Diablo 3 beta hands-on preview: The Monk

So like 100,000 more people get to play the first 13 level OVER AND OVER again until their eyes bleed while waiting for D3 to actually get released. :)

Fun Times.

The Monk is one of the coolest character's in D3 imo. I've played it to death and the Monk is very much "in-control" of the battlefield, using pulls and pushes to maximize damage. A very cool concept for a class

I have yet to try out the monk thus far. I've played around with the demon hunter and barbarian. Between those 2 the demon hunter gets the nod. :)

Those sections of serious lag....can we as S.African's look forward to more of that???

Since the last few updates the lag has been considerably less my side. It's still not ideal though.. I really hope they find some sort of workaround that enables us to game with local pings.

Is this playing on the NA or the EU realm?

Makes me a very sad panda at the thought of having to get ADSL again, to play a game :(

Okes, there will be no lag. Blizzard have introduced a new system to almost entirely eliminate lag as we know it. I have see it in action in D3 vs the old school tech in D2. Just google ad you will see what I'm talking about.

Beta is also USA ping which is always a lot more. You looking at 200ms eu so you won't have any issues.

Obviously if you running constant 800ms you gonna have issues, but if you got a stable Adsl connection it's all good.

The comments made above are from people actually playing the beta Techead. If Blizzard were going to make such an enormous change it would in all likelihood already be in the beta because it will need a lot of testing.

I played WoW on US at first and then later on on EU. The difference between EU and US was nice, but not enormous like you would seam to suggest.

Yikes that MyGaming video looks horrendous. If local gameplay videos don't look a lot better soon there is no way I am buying D3.

I've watched my bro play the beta and the latency wasn't ANYWHERE near as bad as that. It was closer to what you get in something like WoW or LoL. Not really all that noticeable in general play unless you really focus hard to pointing it out and that's with pings of around 350-450ms on US, so 180-250ms on EU should be fine.

Of course though it remains to be seen what happens when the servers start taking strain.

I'll still wait and see for conclusive proof. When D3 was just announced I would have definitely bought it, but due to them dropping LAN and even single-player play on your PC they've also greatly dropped my anticipation of the game. All of this for some crap real-money auction house... SIGH
