Diablo 3 - Major delays likely.

How do these changes == Major delays? As far as I can tell it's mostly balance things, quick changes that are probably already implemented in the beta..

This is the perfect argument! I don;t know why people get upset with Blizzard, they have not yet set ANY indication even of when they will release the game.

I think everyone should take out their aggression on the companies from which you pre-ordered, and even they did not give any dates...

WOOSSAAAA

Same argument applies to the whole Half-life 3 petition.

Lots of testing required = delay. But then again, other things also being worked on so the changes basically fall in with them.

One of the community managers stated:
"Keep in mind everything detailed in the article today is already in the game, and most of it is complete. Once you get Patch 10 and see that, I think it may sink in that these aren't theoretical changes we're still working on, they're changes we've completed. Obviously the potion button still needs a little work to hook it up correctly, and the character attribute changes need to be balanced and tested for itemization throughout the game, but overall these are changes we've already made.

I do not intend to impress that we're close to release, or infer any such "we're <-- this --> done" kind of statement, but most of these are fairly straightforward changes that are already complete and implemented. We do have more changes, skills and runes, affixes to add, more items, Battle.net features, testing, testing, and more testing etc. to do so we're obviously still not there yet, but none of the changes detailed today are theoretical or yet to be implemented."

I hope it's accurate.

LoL I can tell you're a huge Diablo fan.
yes and no, but this is no where close on dramatics you are throwing in relating it to DNF

Well here you go:

Now this comes along...You can see why I am slightly pissed about it, btw that statement was made on the 6th or 7th of Jan, so less than 2 weeks ago, Then all of a sudden, they announce a massive over haul. So I am sticking to what I said..Its fucking retarded and a fucking joke ;)

Edit: I should have known this would happen..Meh whatever I don't game as much as I used too, So I guess its not the end of the world...But like grim said, it feels like they want to release the perfect game, That's not gonna happen..Please someone Email them and tell them..It just won't...Why not just release the game as is and then patch the crap out of it, We will forgive them for that...but making us wait longer is just bad business.
at least they are not engine obsessed, but suffer minor perfection issues.

There, let's hand out some fresh new nappies ;)

Testing that they are already doing and was already scheduled. Changes like these are what a beta is for, among other things, and as far as I can tell, he was just giving some detail to the latest changelog.

I think I'd be more aggro with talk of delays if a melding of worlds hadn't just been announced for mah DDO ....... I'll have plensh to keep me occupied until when/if D3 does want to make itself known.

Take a look closely at the changes to the skill bar at the bottom: they changed (decreased) it to four slots from the previous 6 I believe it was (not sure, haven't played the beta). Now my next point may be a leap, the switch to four slots correlates with the number of trigger buttons on a console controller. Do you think that this is coincidental? I don't; especially when accompanied by the news of Blizzard hiring console developers. I just hope they release within 6 months, but that is probably wishful thinking.

Sorry to disappoint but it was always 5, 6 is the number of TOTAL skills you can have at one time. So 4 on hotkeys and 2 on your mouse buttons OR if you wanted 5 on hotkeys and 1 on mouse if you want to keep 'regular' attack.

Oh, okay! That's enough conspiracy theories for one day, thanks for clarifying.

Actually they did stay at blizzcon it will be end of 2011. Then they said early 2012, which most reasonable people would assume is Q1.

It now seems as if this game will probably hit late Q2....

My bet is on Oct/Nov 2012, sadly.

I'll pre-order one day before release whenever that is. It'll still be one day before release. :D

Clearly you don't preorder much. Longest one I had was gears 3. Which btw was also over +/- 6 months wait...

Nov> Dec> omg Joker Jan panic, that's 2 months. obviously excluding "march launch", but I'd be VERY clear next time so you don't have to make that deduction yourself ;)

I've had Diablo III on pre-order since July 2009. I probably won't buy it though, we'll see how things turn out. I've also had Kingdoms of Amalur on pre-order since January last year. I basically pre-order anything I'm interested the day it becomes available for pre-order and then I decide if I'm still getting it about a week or two before release.

Don't stress peeps, I'm pretty much sure they will release it sometime this year or at least give us a release date. I have played the Beta over and over and I'm pretty sure all is in place for release but they just want to make it like SC2 (Starcraft 2)...Waited so long for it and it came out amazing. So yeah that's my opinion but every1 to themselves i guess :)

I pre-ordered mine in like 2009 as well. The ETA as march a few weeks ago and then it became April a few days later.

It is an estimate though.

They can take as long as they want as far as I'm concerned. I'd rather wait for a great game than play a pile of rubbish that took forever to come out and was finally pushed.

Tiberiun Sun cough cough.
