Diablo 3 - Major delays likely.

I really do not mind how long they take (so long as it comes out before Christmas that is) coz there are quite a few games I still have to play properly, games that are still to come out and I must still get uncapped for home usage.
Also this game is shaping up to be a game that will require plenty of time for me so would rather have those pre requisites done first.

I was really hoping to play this in March/April, but probably shouldve expected something closer to June/July. Hopefully not any later than that. I've just started a new D2 character... desparate...

Not a year has gone by where I have fired up Diablo II and spent a few hours killing everything in sight. My fallback game for when I am bored.

I agree, I'd rather wait another two years for this than have to deal with the bugs again. Here's looking at you BF3.

Hopefully they won't make the mistake of only supporting one resolution again as they did in Diablo 2 right in the beginning. As everyone is saying, "it had better not be buggy"

I'm not sure I agree with the conclusion that these changes will necessarily cause a major increase in development time of the game.

While the systems changed are part of the core mechanics they aren't what I would call "fundamental" on a technical level.

I agree with Jan on the above statement.

But this brings me back to the same thing I always say. Developers should rather announce their game when they know for a fact that their game is about 6months (maybe a year if you want to have BETA testing) away from completion only. Every time a developer announces something this big too soon, as is the case most of the time, it becomes a big problem when "delays" occur. Everyone get's annoyed and agitated. I for one don't mind. It will get there when it gets there. As long as it doesn't leave me feeling like duke nukem did, I am happy.

As long as it's not buggy, they can take all the time the need.
I'm sick of buggy games.

Except, your dreams WILL be crushed.

They will both:
A) Take their sweet damn time.
B) Release a bugged-into-the-ground game.

And then they will come back with that all-time favorite excuse of "Complexity".
I'm having very serious doubts about Blizzard's abilities to deliver, and at the same time, Activision's ability to manage their studios.

Did you see that one of the lead producers resigned without giving any reasons in the last few days? Not exactly a good sign. I mean who would jump ship on a project like this if he didn't have really good reasons to go?

I'm also really surprised by the size of the changes that they are making during the beta. You would expect small changes and minor adjustments, but these ones appear a bit on the large side.

Perhaps I am just cynical after they decided to completely abolish LAN play.

I haven't been keeping track of what was said on this forum for a time, but I will assume this has come up, and sorry to go a bit off-topic here. Diablo III will be online only, needing a constant net connection to play. There will most likely not be a SA server, with the closest being in Europe.
If you have ever played Diablo II on the Battle.net servers (like I have) you will know that it is very annoying and almost impossible to kill a hard enemy, due to you having 300-400ms of latency. If you play single player D2 and then switch to battle.net, you just want to stop playing the game.

You can play WoW with that kind of latency (I do, and it works), but Diablo is much more fast paced. I really think they need to reconsider this whole online issue and maybe change this while they are in BETA as well, cause I can't see it ending well for us South Africans.

I smell SC2 all over again... I don't mind getting a bit of hype going, but there is a line. It's gone too far now IMHO

Overhype something and you just increase your chances that the final product will disappoint.

Regardless I'm sure we will all buy it lol :D

Been waiting so long for D3, that I will survive if have to wait bit longer in order for Blizzard to make it more awesome!

I have been saying to all my friends for the last year that it will only be out late 2012 if it comes out in 2012. hopefully im wrong and it is released earlier but i expected a delay to D3. i cant wait for the game and i hope they take all the time that is needed to make this the most epic game ive ever played. I dont like getting my expectations up but how do you not when you count the endless hours of fun in D2

I am not bothered about the release date anymore. No offline play put me off the game as I work in remote areas where I am unable to access the net for gaming. Pure QQ on my part! :(

I want this now..... never been a fan of sc so i wasn't exited for sc2... But i have been waiting for D3 even when it was just a whisper....
