Diablo 3 Reaper of Souls

Colour me grouchy but I am getting a little irritated with the direction the game is going currently. Legendaries are old news, no one wants em anymore, instead tweaked rares with max crit/crit dmg is now the order of the day. Boring.

Your fun legendaries causes a significant drop in DPS, enough to make you discard them or never climb out of the T1 mediocre hole.

Its pretty much how the game has always been though...
Legendary rings and amulets don't always get good rolls so you are better off with yellows in that case but look at my barb and check all the legendary items I use and looking forward to dropping the rest of the set.

All that you need to realize is that you need to be looking for legendary rings & amulets etc with +elemental dmg on (ie Cold Skills deal 20% more dmg). It is not easy to find the right ones and most ppl also do not realize that is the most powerful way to play the game.

People tend to look at the dmg that shows on their character screen / profile and do not notice the hidden % dmg. Say you have 800k dmg, but have hidden 70% extra elemental dmg. Add that up and its so much more powerful than crit, dmg & attack speed rings / amulets.

Rares will never beat the legendaries, the right ones are just simply not that easy to find, as they should be.

Agreed.

Heres a quick breakdown of my monks legs and why no rare can replace them :
http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Firestarter-2218/hero/1730607

General :

Legs can roll up to 20% elemental damage and rares only 15%.
Legs can roll 15-25% higher mainstats.

Elemental Skill %:
65% on my gear. Ele damage is multiplicative not additive.
This works with Cyclone Strike, Sweeping Wind, and Lashing Tail Kick (my main spenders)

Unique affix:
My main hand will make mobs conduites that shock each other and Cyclone Strike has them stacked so they hurt.
My boots ensure I'm never jailed or frozen, etc (Game Changer once you have these)
My head procs insanely, as mobs are stacked they all get hit.
My belt plays nicely with stacking also.
Finally my bracers make that when I stack enemies they take a further 22% damage.

Chest and shoulders are meh.

The entire build was made around my items.
Simply put, you aren't going to do T3+ efficiently without taking advantage of legendary affixes.

Very nice and very nice Ice Climbers there. They don't seem to drop often.

What you can do now is starting looking for gear that makes Monks have insane endgame potential. Very hard to get the right pieces, but it would be a long term goal.

Stacking Secondary Stat Resists & One With Everything

Consider you can get up to 160 of one resist (only up to 100 AR as Primary) as a Secondary stat on well all, except your weapon. That is a total of 1920.

So with One With Everything what this means is when the dust settles and you have reached your ultimate goal you can/will have 1 more primary stat to work with on every single item vs any other class around.

Yes, its a long, hard road there, but this can be huge!

Well rolled Legs are almost always better than max crit/crit dmg golds. So this is the logical progression of the game.
junk golds>junk legendaries>great golds>great legendaries

Not sure how else the game is meant to progress.

I was thinking the single resist OWE route. It just so hard to get that secondary roll but I have been looking for it. Using Lightning at the moment as my legs roll them due to their nature.

Also waiting for that shard of hate. My weapons are shitty and holding back my damage. Although T2 rifts melt very very fast with my setup.
Final big want is a good helm, mine is strong, but Gyana na Kashu or Kekegi's will be a game changer. Hell even eye of the storm would help.

Rolled HC last night so will spend some time playing the HC witch doctor when my SC mates aren't around for farming.

All I know is my barb is now beyond awesome.
I swap out between helms every now and then for some more elemental damage but right now I can do T4 and its starting to become fairly easy as well. Busy working on my Reakor's set at the moment, 3 pieces done at least.

Nice progress man.

I saw an awesome barb build using http://us.battle.net/d3/en/item/lut-socks and the Might of the Earth Set.
Running that set with the act 1 ring makes you a friggen monster as you can leap 3/4 times dropping EQ's every time without the need to even have it on your hotbar.

As I always say, very barb you have there :D

2 Things I'd definitely look at adding is a SoJ & Leg amulet with +elemental and things would melt even faster!

Please tell me what am I missing on my barb :/

I am now busy going for max set bonuses. I know I just need the immortal king chest armor (or any other IK set item that doesnt take up another set slot.)

When I finally decided on a build I will go for +elemental dmg and +skill dmg

We'll have to play together again sometime so I can help you out bud.

Right now, I have 2 builds going on barb and I swap between them depending on what team structure is like.
My elemental build is now up to 91% Fire Dmg, even though it drops my normal dps by about 100k I kill so much faster with the fire build, the only downside is it drops my toughness down to around 5m where as my normal build has me at 960k dps with 51% fire dmg and 6.6m toughness.

Elemental damage is def where its at though, so the hunt is on to get my toughness to 6.5m while maintaining high elemental dps.

Oh and those are unbuffed dps stats. Normal build in team gets me to around 1.45m dps buffed and fire build gets me to around 1.3m dps buffed

Quick question - i am battling to figure out which of these bracers are actually better - on a barb which skills would be seen as "physical skills"?

The left one with 20% more Physical dmg if you use Physical skills. Hover over your skill and it will tell you why type of dmg that skill does. Different runes does different dmg types

Agreed, barbs can go very physical.
I would also say reroll the vit to Crit if you don't play HC.

So I finished my first T6 solo rift. The guardian took a few minutes, 4.5 billion health n all.

Sort of wondering what to do with my life now :P
