Diablo 3 upcoming patch is full of fixes

Too little too late. Most of these fixes should have been there since launch day. Blizzard need to do something really drastic if they want to get me back to the game before TL2 comes out... like adding LAN or dropping the AH.

They are still busy making the game 3months after launch. :)

Yeah sure I know developers supporting the game and keeping it updated and balanced is a good thing but most of these changes are on the design level, rather than the tweak/polish level. As in they are still changing their mind about what to do with the game on a core level 10years after the start of development.

If they release this patch before next Saturday then I might actually dive into it again to test it out. :)

You make it sound like they have actively been working on it for 10 years... They probably had a meeting, decided on the name, then took a 8 year break. Then when they realized their WoW and SCII sales weren't gonna keep them afloat for much longer, they took the book off the shelf and rushed the game out the door.

They actually made diablo 3 [Blizzard North], well had a near complete working version years ago, but scrapped it because it didn't meet the expectations of the parent company Vivendi. Blizzard north was apparently closed down because of this (You can find screen shots online). Some of the original diablo 1+2 guys ended up making torchlight. So yes diablo 3 has been in development for 10 years, but the version we got most likely only the last 4 years.

There was a working but not complete version of D3 in 2005 which like Gir said they scrapped. The version of D3 we have was probably in development for at least 6years, considering they had a complete engine, pvp and act1 done when they first announced D3 at Blizzcon 2008.

I'm quite looking forward to the patch - been playing slowly (hour or two every couple of nights) - levelling a DH and Wizard alternately - taking my time - quite nice to play like this.

One advantage of the AH is that for a casual gamer like myself I don't have to spend hours and hours grinding and farming - when I die too much I can pop over and pick up an upgrade relevant for my level (and of course, since I don't have the time to farm, I have relatively little gold to spend so I can't afford massively overpowered gear which means that the game remains fun).

I've also tried to balance MF with other stats so that get regular yellows (and have managed to pickup some gear that I would not be able to afford to buy).

Actually the complete opposite is true. Because the AH exists you are forced to grind gold to get gear since the drop rates are so nerfed you hardly ever pick up anything of use for your class. Go play another ARPG, like Titan's Quest or even Diablo 2 and tell me if you ever 'feel' like you need to go buy gear or do you just naturally acquire it while playing.

especially true when hitting inferno

Fair point - I think my favourite was Dungeon Siege 1 (DS2 was repetitive, murky, chaotic and just didn't play as well as DS1; I never finished D2 - at the time that it was released, I didn't have the time to game at all, and by the time I had the time, the graphics were too poor for me to enjoy) - I really enjoyed DS1.

especially true when hitting inferno

Still far from that - my Wiz and DH are at lvl 48 and 49 respectively so still a way to go - like I said, slow player :o -- tried playing monk and barb and just don't like those classes and I don't know if I have the patience to level the WD

I totally agree with the above, there is no way this game could have been in actual development for more than a decade.

This was truly and for most part i think many will agree , the biggest let down for the one of the most anticipated games in gaming history.

Now i gave this game a fair chance, heck one could say i forced myself to play it to just find something that can justify the price i paid (Bought the CE) and give it some re playability.

I have 9 characters, 6 of which i play (one of each class and a hardcore WD)
The other 3 serve as pack mules.

I have a lvl 60 DH and Monk, working towards finishing inferno.
But it becomes an item grind for gold farming to spend in the AH at the end.

I read through the Patch previews for different classes on the web.
And I must say i very much like what im reading, but agree with this all things that should have been addressed in the previous patches already.

This won't save the game, nor would PVP.

Financially the game is a big success i mean come on, who ever would have thought Blizzard, a studio that sets industry standards with their games , would screw up one of their biggest franchises ?..so i kinda feel Blizzard scammed everyone..or for that fact the hype sure did.

But game wise it's a let down to the genre and fans everywhere.

The story is horrendously lame and predictable, the skills system suck! the lack of customization and own attribute assigning is another big issue.

To me it felt like a game from a 3rd party studio that hired Blizzard to do their cinematics..
I mean i played a bit on Sunday, and i kid you not, there were like 23 people in the General chatroom :(
I opened my game to the public, in the 3H or more that i played, not one ....not one single person joined.

This game will need a few expansions to rectify all the bad mistakes, if it is even repairable.
In short, people won't be so eager to hop on the hype wagon again and pre order the Expansions so quick.
Blizzard will defos need to give public beta access for all to demo the game beforehand.

D3 has its down sides thats true but for people with not alot of time i think its a good game to play every now and then. When it comes to the AH i think the prices are OMG. Takes forever to farm that gold unless im missing something.
