Diablo III auction house will use real money

There is nothing wrong with this.

You buy a game, which is not real, for money
You buy DLC for real money
On the Xbox, you can buy clothes and stuff for your avatar.

Blizzard and co are businesses there to make money. You don't have to buy the game or buy items from an auction house. As Monk said, unless you're trying to be top of the PvP battle ladders, what do you have to worry about.

It's your money, you can spend it how you like. If you chose to spend it stupidly on lottery tickets, or hats for your Mii or whatever, hell, it's your money. That's what it's there for.
 
I have to agree ...... outside of PvP, what is it going to matter? You and your group will be unaffected and have the same fun that you would have had ;)
 
I don't even want to start thinking about the loot whores in this game...because every roll you win, every mob you ninja, can result in REAL money.

This is going to bring out the absolute worst in gamers.
 
Yeah it will but as long as there is a way to minimize interaction with those type of people and stick with 'your own kind', it won't really have the chance to ruin the game.

I've never played D2 with anyone that I didn't personally know just never saw the point, you're suppose to be able to shout and laugh and cheer when you do something stupid/funny/awesome, it's just not the same when you're playing with some faceless character. :)

Problem is when I dont have "my own kind" or even dont know anyone in the game , or even if I do , perhaps we need to get randoms , thats when the banana hits the republic.
 
I have never paid for an ingame item with real money. I buy the game... any further monetary options are out of the question. I imagine that for most gamers, this is the case. Does anyone know anyone who has actually used real money to buy a "magic sword".

The problem is, that perhaps if you do play and find a magic sword during your adventures, your friends and others will assume you just paid cash for it. In that way, Diablo is open to resentment. Like the kid at school who get's given a brand new car while you worked all summer long for a crappy Datsun.

I know exactly what you mean, dude. From after school until the 2nd year of my current job I've been driving an old rust bucket Datsun like this:

That is a sweet ride. I know it might be a shitty car in many ways (performance and maintanance), but the general design/weighting/line/feel... I honestly think those Datsun's are one of the last cheap, beautiful cars. Most new cheap cars are too bubbly. e.g, Ford Ka (the ugliest car ever made), Opel Corsa, hell, most bakkies even. The only time a modern car is beautiful, is if it costs a fortune... like Mazerati, or Jaguar.
