Diablo III - General Discussion Thread

Read Bashiok's first post.
The auction house obviously provides an incredible service to allow for very easy trades between characters, and essentially blows out the wide range of items you could have available to you at any one time. So, in fact, the AH has to be a factor in how we drop items. On one hand you have a huge benefit because you can buy and sell items very easily, as opposed to having to post up WTS threads in the old USEast trading forums, but on the other end it does impact the item pool economy with the inherent ease at which you can trade items. If the AH existed but wasn't a factor at all into how items dropped/rolled, the economy would be completely tanked within a matter of weeks.

So there were three options imo.
1) No AH
2) No link between AH and loot - economy tanking within a matter of weeks
3) Link between AH and loot - boredom within a matter of weeks

Yeah, fuck this shit. Diablo 2 used to be fun in that you actually worked towards grinding for those items, and the feeling when you finally got that awesome item was amazing. Now Diablo 3 is fun, but it is frustrating as fuck killing a yellow or purple monster on level 21 just to have him drop a level 8 blue item, again.

Also, if they had not linked the AH with the loot table, the AH might not have done so well, but it certainly wouldn't have tanked. People would still have been trading rare items and set items. Only issue is, it wouldn't have been so frequent, so Blizzard wouldn't have made as much money as they currently do. Blizzard's just seeing dollar signs, is all.

Main problem with the people that are moaning...You guys do not want to work for anything xD
You expect all the awesome items to just drop into you're lap. Play the game from Normal all the way to inferno.
Once you start inferno, Get some decent gear for you're class, by this time you should have made at least a million or more coins.
Farm act I inferno and get some better gear.

Then sell that gear on the AH, yes we don't want to be forced to use it but alas you must, its how the game works unfortunately.
I dropped some insane items on Act I in the cemetery of the forsaken, that sold for 200-300k each. So if I can do it, so can you.

I am now on Act 4 Inferno, my DH does 95k dps I can pretty much 1 hit anything when I crit which is often, apart from Elite packs, which I still have to WORK to kill..something it seems people aren't willing to do.
Its a lot of fun, yeah it can be a grind at times but there is no reason to give up this quickly.

List of items I dropped last night:

3x 1100 Dps Axe/sword/fist
10x decent blue armor pieces
3x epic yellow pieces
Tons of HP pots,
About 300k coins.

All in about 2-3 hours.

Please take into account that you are ahead of the exp curve and in the top percentiles of players. Once the rest of us (if ever) reach that level it will not be the same and the prices would have normalized a lot. Not everybody has the amount of time available that you had to reach inferno so quickly after launch, and by the time we reach inferno the economy won't be the same anymore. We will get less for the same items that you are selling now, and will have to pay more for the items that you are now buying. Just because of supply and demand.

All I can see are excuses.
2-3 Hours a day will get you there quickly.
I also love how people throw this time thing into it lol xD I own my own business, I sometimes only get home at 8-9 pm at night..in fact that happens at least 4 days a week. So no I do not have a lot of time but I enjoy D3 so I make time to play it.

The fact that you're also making the argument "by the time we get there" Just shows how little you're willing to do.
Stop playing it and go play something that doesn't require you to work for items. Simple.

On a side note, the people that keep bringing D2 up..You obviously forgot that it was a bitch of a grind to get really good gear, and most of the time you ended up trading/selling to get better gear.

Anyone looking for gear to progress, I'll gladly help you out. Let me know.

What is your playtime on your act 4 inferno character? How many days would that take at 2-3 hours a day? Even so, not everybody can play 2-3 hours a day.

Besides... we were discussing why the AH implementation sucks when you came in and tried to defend the game you so vehemently hated last week and you were even trying to sell your account here.

I will stop playing the moment the game is no longer enjoyable or when something else becomes more appealing - think Torchlight II.

The "bitch of a grind" wasn't so bad in D2 because the drops were much better because there was no AH... Looks like we're talking to a wall here.

Mate, seriously I grinded the crap out of D2, and I remember how frustrating it was.
I agree that the AH sort of spoils the grinding/finding awesome gear and the drops def suggest that.
But in all honesty, equip some magic find gear, you can buy a cheap set on AH. Then farm..it makes a difference.
Also if you're playing with a party, make sure everyone is geared with MF gear, seeing as it takes the avg of the group.

D3 is not a follow up of D2 or D1 in fact I think it should have been given a different title.
Its still a lot of fun and I can understand why people get upset about it...I also think everyone was expecting a lot more..I for one expected the story to be much much better and a lot longer. The fact that you're forced to play through all the difficulties without any changes to the story/mobs apart from difficulty is also disappointing.

The game changes once you get to Inferno, really it does.

I got up to act 2 inferno with my 60 barb..and it was pure horse shit.
So i reroled and power lvl'd a demon hunter over the course of a weekend.

Please tell me why you are even playing this game? You moan about the online-only, you moan about the DRM, you moan about the downtime, you moan about the loot drops and farming mechanics, you moan about the AH etc etc I don't think I've ever read anything from you that's actually positive.

Is there anything you actually like about this game? Or is the only reason you're playing it so that you can bask in how "bad" it is?

Yeah party play is definitely the way to go. It's quite funny pretty much all of my friends who are in Inferno have rerolled demon hunters :D

I've also seen a witch doctor pawning the crap out of inferno.

I moan because I am a huge fan of the Diablo franchise and I believe that Blizzard could have done a lot better. On several topics it's just like they completely stopped thinking or were in an enormous rush to get things out.

The game is definitely a lot of fun in multiplayer, especially in Nightmare where it starts to become challenging.

After Spending almost 100K in the AH & a major overhaul of my play style my Barb can now Solo Nightmare, still challenging but not nearly as ridiculous as before.

This is with just battle rage on and Max fury. If I throw up Berserker it shoots up to almost 4K for 15 seconds. So my now strategy is keep fury at max, battlerage, throw up ignore pain when I see blues or Leets and if I do see elites Berserker goes up and I try and kill it before that 15 second run out. Managed the butcher after 3 tries, and Magda after 2.
Holy cow you went full glass cannon barb. You must have some balls. :D

Big Steal ones. :D I must say he's doing pretty well, at no point leading up to killing Magda did his get too seriously owned. I think the 3 blue wasp things that spit smaller poison ones with fire chain was the worst.

Did anyone else find Maghda to be seriously underpowered? I probably spent around a minute and a half on her fight, and only that long because she kept going invincible. Compared to the Butcher, or even some of the fights with normal creatures out in the desert, she was laughably easy.

At least she dropped a rare spellbook that I could actually use.

Hardest fight in the game is a last minute rehash of a side boss you already owned in D2, Izual.

Yeah he was a bitch the first time with my Wizard solo, didn't give me enough time get away and deploy mah LAZORS. Co-op with the Witch Dr/ Barb combo he went down faster, same with the Monk and the Demon Hunter Combo. Looking forward to him on Nightmare.
