Diablo III - General Discussion Thread

I wrote down the xfire stats for the last few weeks, and performed a straight line approximation on the data. If you use that formula and calculate when the amount of hours played will hit zero, the result is 18 days from now...

Now obviously I understand as the players get less the graph will flatten out, and that the xfire sample is a very small sample. But I have yet to see any evidence to the contrary.

Now keep on telling us that it's an awesome game please!

Whisper, I have some of the same sentiments as you. The FUN-Factor being my biggest gripe. However, I feel this way about most new games these days, and also find myself going back to "classic" games. The question I ask myself: Are the games getting worse, are we older now and only appreciate certain qualities in games?

I'm really having a great time with most new games. Granted I'm playing lots of indie games in between as well. I've recently finished Legend of Grimrock and Portal 2. Played Torchlight 1 up to level 35, can't wait for number 2! Having a ball in BF3 and F3AR as well in between everything else.

EDIT: oh and before that I played Rift and leveled 3 characters to 50 and one to 40.

Do you mind sharing the data?

I don't use xfire but I have stopped playing the game since about a week ago, the repetition and lack of reward was becoming too much.

I didn't feel like spending hours defending my opinion again, especially against personal attacks on my character.
I had no intention of having you 'defend' your opinion, only wishing you would express it. :D

And as you can see many people, including myself, agree with most if not all of your points. I still wouldn't call D3 a bad game, I would just call it extremely average and highly disappointing. After 10years people were expecting something great, what they got was something that looked like it should have taken 2 years to make.

Heheheh I agree, Inferno with the Wiz is very difficult, I still can't attempt Act 2 solo. But at least managed to finish act 1 on my own now. But I need loads more gear and resistance to try act 2. But will have to try and make gold to get better gear - magic find and gold find as well.

Btw where can I look at what the set items are? Ive tried to google it, but no luck so far.

And there lies the very soul of everything that is wrong with D3. You should be farming items to kill monsters, not farming gold to buy items. No-one feels rewarded when they go onto the AH and spend a crap load of gold on an item, it just feels like hard.

Yep Monk, plus the fact that it is so overpriced! I need a new weapon but can't afford it . . . SO I can't progress, I would love to finish inferno but at this point I just don't know . . .

You can never catch up to the gold treadmill. Gold is devaluing faster than you can acquire it.

if you have not found it yet there is am item list of what you can create using black smithing on the diablo3 website and there are some set items there.

I remember how in Diablo 1 if the game got tough, you could just go back a level play it again, and you would most likely find something better so you could progress. Diablo 3, my god, I don't know how many times i played act four on Hell so Inferno Act 1 wasn't a gold sink of repairing. I'm still not entirely sure how buying items off the market place is meant to be fun.

Game just isn't worth it until 1.0.4, but by time Guild Wars 2 will be out.
Good time to just take a break from it, Inferno and item system is just badly designed.
