Diablo III not expected in 2010, may come to console

You must understand that Blizzard is developing 4 games concurrently utilizing their full developement team (about 1000 dev's). Show me any other developer that is doing that? Yes there will always be a wait when it comes to Blizzards releases, but that is because they really pour their blood, sweat and tears into making these games. Imo it makes them the best games company on the planet. (go on slate me for being a Fan boy)

For those of you actually watched Blizzcon, Paul Sams did mention that consoles is something they were persuing and wouldn't rule out. However he did go onto saying that Blizzard doesn't make games for different platforms, they just make the games they want to make and if the game doesn't feel right on console, they wont force it down that route JUST for the sake of making money. Bottom line, I wouldn't hold my breath for any console games comming from Blizzard.

All is understandable with them making 3 to 4 games rights now BUT that is no excuse postponing something 6 or 7 times already. Starcraft 2 is basically done and Diablo III is probably about 85% to 90% done, just because we dont know the last playable class doesn't mean their not busy with it.

The last time a a huge title got postponed then postponed again, it got postponed indefinitely e.g. Duke Nukem Forever. Lets hope they dont rename the game to Diablo Forever.

As for the console version. It will indeed work for consoles e.g. Sacred 2:(

Aww RustPuppet. Looks like great minds think alike haha

"Diablo Forever"

Expect the 5th class to only be revealed at next years Blizzcon (2010). I reckon the 5th class is going to be some form of Amazon/Archer class.

I predict Xmas time 2011 for a realistic D3 release date.

I hear you Damienalexi, however Starcraft 2 is not as complete as you may think, they are still doing ALOT of work with the Zerg which was openly mentioned at Blizzcon. Yes the core game is available and all the tools needed to build the game. But in my experience Blizzard spends about as much time polishing the game as they do conceptualizing. So SC2 is probably 85% complete, but that last bit is were they will put in the effort. One of the developer interviews said, if they are allowed an extra week on the project, they will find things to polish up before it ships.

Regarding D3 on consoles, it may definately work, I can actually visualize the control system. However watching the interview with Paul Sams it seemed more so like a tactful way of saying NO without causing a fuss in the console space. He did mention some of the bigger issue’s is how to address DLC and such. (I understand part of Microsoft’s agreement with Titles launched on their 360 console is some DLC needs to be charged at a fee)

The only positive thing I saw into the DirectTV interview was him saying “we definitely aren’t ruling out consoles at this point…”

It's just my opinion on the matter so don't take it as fact ;)

What is everyone complaining about?

Diablo 3 was only announced last year. U can expect 2-3 years of development from blizzard.

Look at starcraft 2, was announced 2 years ago and we only getting it in 2010.

Some ppl

What you guys fail to remember is that Blizzard have NEVER released a game that didn't top record sales, can you think of any? Blizzard are a company that have some of the most brilliant minds in game design today and none of you should have any doubts that both Starcraft II and Diablo III will be spectacular games that will make your jaw drop with an incredible storyline + amazing graphics combined into 2 of the best games of whatever year they are released in.

All these criticism and complaints I keep hearing about Starcraft and Diablo are just people being people. Blizzard know that both their games will recieve 95-99% review ratings and once the games are released every single person will be thanking Blizzard for giving them some absolutely mind bogglingly good games. Whatever the reason is for the wait between releases I guarantee you Blizzard are not making any mistakes, if anything it's all just clever marketing.

One thing I do disagree with is a console port. I've never owned a console and I don't take kindly to watching fantastic games get dumbed down, regardless of whether I'd play it or not, but that is just my bias opinion so nobody is allowed to flame me for it :P

+1 :)

Regarding the console port i say bring it, Diablo 1 on the original Playstation was awesome still got AND still play it.

I've decided to just stop following up on progress now. Hopefully I'll forget about it (not likely) and get a nice surprise when it actually is ready.

Quality over quantity/speed ladies and gents. There's a reason Blizz games take so long and there's a reason we all have fond memories of their games.

Lots of game companies push out games on a 3 year cycle, but its more like rush games out on a 3 year cycle. They have tight ass time constraints and budgets, Blizzard don't really have either, so they will always score in the attention to every detail department.

The last class was revealed at BlizzCon. If you read the article very carefully, you will see that it was standing right next to Geoff Keighley. The Kat Hunter :)

+1.

I'm tired of getting all hyped up for a game and then feeling bitterly disappointed when it turns out to be the work of mortal men instead of the godly masterpiece it was touted to be.

Best to pretend it doesn't even exist, I reckon.
