Diablo III Performance

When I first started playing this game I could run it on high settings with little lag, it would only get bad when there was a lot of stuff going on. Now it lags on the lowest setting. I'm talking about FPS lag.

Have they changed something with patches etc.

I have got the latest NVidia drivers.
 
I've got an ATI card and haven't had any problems. In the settings though you will find some settings for shadows. Can't remember the exact words but something like High Quality Shadows and then the same option for smooth. Maybe try the smooth option?
 
Same happens to me now and then. I have a Nvidia GTX460 running high and medium shadow detail. Recently, the lag would start by the character screen and I mean 10fps lag.

Go into the game and it drops down to 5fps...normally a pc restart fixes it. Definitely not my gpu overheating or such because I can play HON and NFS Most Wanted for hours without any hiccups.
 
Tip: Install Diablo 3 on another hard drive that is not your C:

I've seen this improve FPS on certain PCs. On the two PCs I use, I cannot even play Diablo 3 if the game is installed on C:
 
Yeah it's most likely hdd drive issues, try defragging first then maybe installing on another drive. Diablo 3 is notorious for hard drive stuttering and it's a problem that still isn't fixed. I had to use this fix to play the game without ridiculous stutter at any settings. This may not fix your problem if its at 10 fps though.
 
I've got a HD7950. I get driver crashes/recoveries regularly in D3 (but never in BF3 or BLOPS).
I downclocked the card and that seems to have helped... but i saw something strange 2 days ago... i had turned on FPS rate (ctrl R) and during a run in fields of slaughter, it dropped to 1...
Yes, 1 FPS.... TPed back to camp, went back to 60, went back to fields and down to 1 again.
skipped to Stonefort to kill the keywarden without further issue...

So... I do think something is funky in D3. And i miss caine to identify all my items with 1 click.
 
Any one having lag issues with a telkom line or 8ta?
I use 8ta and have never had problems. Have no problems playing fifa 13 online, company of heroes which also uses eu servers. I used to get about 250ms in diablo 3 but for the passed 3 months im getting terrible lag. If im in new tristam and im on 420ms, once I teleport somewhere else the latency can spike up to over 1000 then slowly drops again but its always up and down and always orange.
Used to be green at all times.
