Diablo III will require constant internet connection

Noooo, I wonder how much bandwidth it will use. I am only on a 5gig option on basic 384.

I'm not going to rage about it ... my interest in Diablo III is pretty much minor in any case.

However, I find their excuses for enforcing online play rather pathetic - how many people limit themselves to one character in any case. So let the people create one offline char, and if they really want to play online, let them do that.

Also - as someone who plays MMOs regularly, if they believe being online all the time is going to stop cheating ... errr ... hahahaha!!!

Also, this comment was hilarious:

Obviously StarCraft 2 did it, WoW authenticates also. It’s kind of the way things are, these days. The world of gaming is not the same as it was when Diablo 2 came out

WoW authenticates?!!? No rly?!?! I had no idea

Simply superb Blizzard. No LAN and now forced always on internet. Good thing I'm not too hyped for the game anyway, we will just have to wait and see if the game is good enough to be worth all these shenanigans.

Lol, hellgate:London all over again.

I'm OK with the always online, that's just because it happens that in this specific case it aligns with my interests. The first time I hit new character it will be a multiplayer character, so I will never not be playing online.

Now, what really worries me is the auction system.

Doesn't phase me in the slightest as my internet's on all the time anyway :p

Now if telkom decides to drop my line then I will be peeved!

Gimmmmmme Diablo 3!!!

Lan is so 80s

As long as this really stops piracy,
starcraft 3 got cracked in hours , allowing everyone to play offline.
meanwhile i feel sorry for people who dont have internet at home who might end up buying the original and cracking it anyway.

I'm not entirely sure how I feel about all this.

Sure, it's probably going to be a rather nice game. I just don't YET feel the absolute burn for it though.
Assuming that I might eventually have this game, I don't think it bothers me too much that it requires always-on internet.

My internet connection is always-on anyway...

Another disappointed fan. I was totally blown away when I read this. I was really looking forward to this game, but now, sadly I will let it pass by.
