Dickhead in a BMW

We just had somebody knocked off their bike while turning into an intersection. Car driver knocked him, bike slid across the road, guy got up and went inside the restaurant to get a drink. The guy was ok, but the driver of the car just drove off. Bloody hit and run.
All we know is it was a blue car, didn't get registration details as the driver didn't even stop

Then there's all those people who have no clue what to do when the traffic lights are out or flashing red or amber.

Another annoyance is people who shoot out of a side street into the traffic, then make absolutely no effort to get up to the same speed as the traffic, forcing everyone to brake.

What's been getting to me lately where lanes merge, but people apparently think their lane is their lane, and you're now pushing in so they block you. It's not like I'm driving down the emergency lane and trying to push in at the front, the two lanes are merging, you should let people in, one from this lane, then one from the other lane.

People even try block you from changing lanes on the highway, there can be a big space that you can slip into, so you put the indicator on and the asshole behind you speeds up to close the gap so you can't get in. What ever happened to courtesy on the roads?
I instinctively make space when lanes merge, but I do get annoyed at people who try to get all the way to the end of the lane before they try to merge. That usually means someone has to actually stop to let them in.

Lane changes are fine if the person trying to change lanes has matched their speed to the traffic or they do so as fast their vehicle can manage after changing lanes (changing down and pushing their car to red line if that's what it takes). I'll be doing the speed limit if at all possible and won't make any effort to let in someone who can't manage to do the same.

I block people if they are driving stupidly. Like people who try swap lanes every two seconds because for 1 second the other lane goes faster then they want to swap lanes, making me have to slow down to let them in every couple seconds.
Drive in a lane and stay in a lane. I don't mind if its not a constant thing, but seriously when it is so often then as far as I am concerned I won't let people in.
///
It pisses me off when people inconvenience me so that they can break the law. People who come up in SUV or whatever on highways wanting to go 140 km/h in the "fast" lane come right up my back bumper and start flashing their lights. I am already going 5 - 15 km/h faster then the limit. If you want to drive wreck less then go inconvenience yourself and change lanes, don't force me off. Fuck that shit annoys me.
/ end of rant...

/flag as lane controllist who must not be inconvenienced

haha yeah, no seriously it pisses me off when people try shit like that. All it does is make the lanes slower with people constantly alternating between lanes with the constant slowing down to let this and that one in.
As I say I don't mind if it isn't often but some people can never seem to make up their mind lol

You should not be getting pissed off in traffic which makes you then as much as problem as the "dickhead in the bmw". Surely you won't suffer penis shrinkage if you give way ;)

I hate when people do this. It's even worse when they do it when there's not even a single car behind you. I just keep chasing down on their asses and then start flashing lights at them.

Actually, it is a rather big inconvenience, because often you're forced to go over into the slow lane behind very slow-moving traffic, and then getting back into the fast lane is a nightmare.

Also, another thing that pisses me off. You never, never, NEVER use a right indicator when going around a traffic circle. If I look at your indicators and see the left one, I know that you're taking the next exit out of the circle. If your right indicator is on, I have no idea which exit you're taking unless I see which entrance you came in through. I don't get why people don't seem to understand this.

Not really how he came over. He said he won't give way if they come up his arse, which is wrong and has a rippling effect because the idiot will do more idiot moves that he would not have if people like simon just gave way.

You may now find the idiot driving around and then slamming his brakes which could kill him, simon and other people. Suppose darwin candidates attract each other and must be congratulated on breeding this behaviour and being part of a ripple effect that could have been avoided, but due to your fail attitude it lived on.

So if we have 3 entry points (excluding 1 lol, basic T junction with circle in the middle):

N

...|.V
.1|.|2
..(O)=3=
.4|.|x
..^.|

S

If I drive up towards N coming from S and I want to exit in no 3 after going around and past entry point 2, then I could not indicate right ?

Quite sure that will produce fail with oncoming traffic from 2 that now thinks I want to drive strait through from 4 to 1.

How else are you going to show when you come from 3 and want to go around and up to 1 that you are not just going around the small bend into x ?

Yeah, golden rule is keep left, pass right. Doesn't always apply, though, and someone coming from behind at more than 140kph shouldn't get angry at someone driving the speed limit not giving way. If you can give way, and it's not going to inconvenience you in any way, then I agree, give way for the faster car.

As for your example of the traffic circle, if the exit you plan on taking is the first one out, you put on your left indicator on before entering the circle. Junctions like that one usually have mini-circles, though, and in the case of a mini-circle you use your right indicator. Mini-circles are exceedingly rare, though. I only know about one in the cape, and that's in Kuilsriver. My driving instructor hammered on that one so I wouldn't make the mistake in the test. :P

They've gone on a circle orgy in some parts of PTA, you'd get real weird ones here.

Every morning I drive Delmas road in Pretoria. And about 2 out of 5 times a week some cunt on a bike comes and overtakes me at 100kph (it's an 80 road). Now this oke has gotten so ballsy over the past couple of months that he does it even when oncoming traffic is too close for comfort.

So about 3 weeks ago this happens again, I had to slam brakes or else he would have been into me(there was a truck about 10 meters away from him when he swerved back into traffic) or head on dead.

Next time I'm not going to brake and give way but freak out and "accidentally" swerve into him.

To what end? both fucked, idiots from road removed?

What if someone just do what you intent do and end up killing someone you know?

:edit
Both your attitude and the biker's are equally wrong and dangerous. I would rather have both your licences revoked.

Have you ever went from 80 > 30 when there are people sitting on your ass? Guess not. I spent a week in ICU last year for shit like that when a kid ran over the highway. Not going through that again.

And I don't know anyone that drives at 100km an hour in an oncoming lane in traffic.

Maybe a second NDE would fix your attitude,
I've gone through two NDEs on the road and certainly don't want a third or another related. Yes when I had a driving attitude problem like most of you, I did have that habit of braking hard when someone was on my ass and one time I had my other foot on the break which went from fast to dead, I'm quite surprised I and the taxed lived out that one. No amount of road rage or anger is worth it, it just endangers lives, period.

Heh, I have a NDE every time I get onto the highway. It just seems as if no one cares about anything once they get behind the wheel.

My first car crash was my fault and an expensive lesson I learned on how to be a better driver.

Just some Taxi Humour (look at the sticker in the back left corner)

And main problem is here in RSA we don't really get the law enforced across the board with zero tolerance. Yes it's mostly just that as you put it. For example getting killed by a truck jumping a red is very real here...

But you're not supposed to drive in the right lane or signal at a circle. You're supposed to drive right into it without looking and hope you come out on the other side. At least that's what people in Cape Town think.

Almost hit a lady (in a BMW by the way :| ) while entering a roundabout. I was on the right(inside) lane going straight. She was on the left indicating going right... you don't go right in a roundabout from the left lane! Left lane goes straight!

Good thing I noticed it and slowed down. Almost stopped dead trying to avoid it. And she didn't even notice a thing...

Yeah, to be honest, asshole drivers in South Africa transcend vehicle type and vehicle make.

Basically, people in this country just have no fucking clue how to drive safely/well.

The only thing you can do is drive as well as you possibly can, and hope that you're not unfortunately enough to come across one of the unwashed masses who don't actually know how to drive, but believe they do...
