If you just cared about gaming, then why did you make a point of 'pc fanboys' in the article? It was totally unnecessary and biased.

Seriously, who cares where gaming started?

I started off on a Commodore 64 and an Atari. The one with the little wooden grooves. And I remember a console called Intellivision. Then it was a 386 PC and always been on PC since then. About 25yrs later I bought my 1st console, namely the PS3. Will still always be a PC gamer, but the console is also fun.

All I say is as long as neither platforms ever dissapear, I will be a happy man. Oh and make games cheaper, specially consoles games. Holy crap but they are moochos much!

LOL this console vs PC war is so ridiculous
Who cares what you play games on the ,point is you play games .
End of the day we are all gamers ,yes even if you are using a Wii
Whats with the segregation hardcore or casual it really means nothing .

Im a PC gamer and a console gamer ...and I think the article is very fair and makes plenty sense if those kiddies didnt get the pong for christmass then they wouldnt have taught damn I can do better than this and so games evolved

Gaming is only gaming when its available to the masses.....
And thats where it started ..so accept it .

Truth is it might have been started on a console of sorts ...But was perfected on PC its only now with the invent of Next gen consoles that console gaming is evolving into some thing more ....

Agreed. Before it was Xbox vs PS3 or Console Vs PC now its Hardcore vs Casual.
I play Games, not consoles and not platforms, anybody who things they are better than me because I prefer to play on console as appose to pc should get out of their parents basement and get a clue.

/Suggests the forming of "Games Against Elitism" or "Gamers 4 Gaming Equality" organisation.

It's called a "context".

God. Pulling the "bias" card is such an easy way to discredit everything a person says, isn't it? Stop being such a victim, it's pathetic.

*Cough*Fanboy*Cough Cough*

I would like to draw attention to one of the comments, very good indeed

All those developers that have been noted for switching focus from PC to console markets were intially PC exclusive for a reason. The same reasons why many gamers prefer PCs. Unrestricted creative freedom.

You're probably wrong to assume that the video gaming industry wouldn't exist without consoles.

Personal computers for the masses would of been inevitable and so would the vast range of software that accompanies it. That includes games.

'Where gaming started' is a pointless argument. Platform contribution to the success of the industry is more appropriate.

One of the industry's cornerstones is the FPS genre. That is soley a product of PC gaming. Without the PC there would be no Halo and Call of Duty on consoles. The racing, sandbox world, simulator, strategy, management and interactive adventure genres have all also been defined on the PC. Whereas the consoles were limited to puzzle games and 2D platformers. So as far as the amount of contribution to the video gaming industry goes, the PC exceeded the console. Console gaming as it is today, would not exist were it not for the PC.

As for which platform is ultimately superior? I have a preference for the PC, because it can do everything the console does and more. The PC is productive, social, a media hub and has a massive games library. All those aspects are integrated seamlessly.

The console does have one significant draw: convenience. The foremost factor for mass market appeal.

I don't forsee the PC nor the console becoming irrelevant, but a convergence. The ultimate platform would be a console-PC hybrid device. That can be switched between Compute, Game and Media modes at a press of a button. Having the convenience of no hardware upgrades to play the latest games. Can be used anywhere, on the desktop or in the lounge. A retail package that includes a wireless keyboard, mouse, remote and gamepad so developers can begin building their games around maximum functionality instead of being limited by a gamepad.

What exactly was the context of your thread? Precis: PC fanboys are wrong because gaming didn't start on the PC so thar. You're actually the one who started the whole fanboy thing off. If you'd just made a nice informative article about the origins of gaming, no problem. Why was it even necessary to mention how wrong PC fanboys are? Then you gotta be all self-righteous and everyone's misreading me... speaking of victim complexes.

How was the article not nice and informative? You're the one choosing to get all stroppy over a light-hearted comment in the introduction. I wrote the article as a response to the "GAMING STARTED ON PC WAAAH" comments I saw all over the internet when the Epic story broke. That's the context.

Now stop making such a huge deal out of nothing. I'm done discussing this with you. If you want to carry on, please post an anonymous, abusive message under the article like all the other butthurt idiots who take everything SO SERIOUSLY that they can't stop and laugh at themselves once in a while.

What's that mean?

If it was "Butt turd" it would still be a pretty cool neoplasm.

We can't do that!

/Sarcasm
Its US(PC) vs. THEM (Consoles) how dare you even suggest such a thing You Fsking console fanboi
\Sarcasm

I grew up using a console and still enjoy the pc as well. Now that I have a xbox I have two worlds to enjoy:)

Butthurt:

An inappropriately strong negative emotional response from a perceived personal insult. Characterized by strong feelings of shame. Frequently associated with a cessation of communication and overt hostility towards the "aggressor."

Urban Dictionary

It's typically a response where the offended party feels aggrieved because the offender has inadvertently shamed them by pointing out something that's true. And instead of stepping back and having a laugh at themself, the offended party has a nerd rage because it makes them look better (in theory).

Happens all the time in gaming.
