Ello guys,

I was thinking about this along time ago, presumably because i played a lot of MMO's etc. But when it comes to upgrading or purchasing new games do guys prefer the Digital online purchase ( with no media ) or going the old school disc install etc and having something to put on your shelf / cupboard?

I really don't give a crap for aesthetics in my house or study and so the digital way seems so much easier for me EVEN if its more expensive. Driving and waiting in the Que pisses me off when i know i have so much better to do with my time.

What are your thoughts?
 
Digital only.

Can't picture where I would store all those cases. Digital is just so easy as well.
 
I have had some fairly bad luck with optical drives in the past, so I prefer to get everything in downloadable format whenever I can.
 
I have half and half.

If I see a hard copy of something I really want, I purchase. Besides, I do not have a bank account or Pay Pal account. Otherwise, most of my purchases would be digital.
 
Unless physical is cheaper (usually only happens at release), I go for digital where I can.
 
Digital all the way. I hate starting a game and then it comes up with the error because you haven't put the DVD in the drive. Then it's scratching thorough all your dvd's trying to find it.
When you have to format your harddrive you just copy the steam directory over, locate a few saved games and you can be up and running in no time.
You don't have to worry about insuring your collection which is great in this country.
Its a lot easier to insert the CD key. That's a small thing, but its all the small things that add up to a much better experience.
I also stay a few years behind the latest games, so by the time I've finished my current game, the next ones coming on sale. Most games have cost me below R50, and those that I really want may push it up to R75.
 
I get most of my games digitally as well, but sometimes i still enjoy going through BT Games' bargain bin and getting a second hand disc.
 
Digital. I never buy discs. My last physical media I bought was probably a Cossacks pack a couple of years ago.
 
I prefer digital, because you can never 'loose' the game, as it is backed up online.
It is also slightly cheaper...
But when it comes to a limited edition hardcopy... Hands down win
 
I'm a bit of a hoarder so I prefer physical copies (I want something to look at), but with PS+ and STEAM specials I do have quite a few digital games as well.

Its normally easy and painless, except for some of those big releases where u sit for a while waiting due to server load
 
What I like about disc media; if HDDs crash, or data is just somehow lost, having hard, physical back up can be a life saver.
I have personally ran into such encounters many times.

With digital you can download the games again if something happens. You can also backup your game folder onto dvd's if you wanted. It even splits files for you to fit on x number of disks.

Unfortunately, not all of us have the benefit of being able to download over and over.
 
Once you go Steam you never go back :D
I still get some special pre-orders like AC3,GOW,Witcher2 when you get all cool stuff on special occasions :)
 
Digital gaming for me. I like the fact that the games will be there if my hdd crash, and discs are just not that reliable.

Now I didn't want to go here, but oh well: this debate seems so show why Microsoft went full digital in their Xbox One launch. You know, before they went limp waisted and scraped that idea...just saying...
 
Digital all the way, baby. Chucked out my DVD rom two years ago and haven't seen the need for one since. Even installing windows doesn't require a DVD rom, so there's really no need to go physical unless you don't have uncapped internet.

What method do you use for installing Windows, then?
