Dirt 2 Lag

Hi people

Just want know when I play Dirt 2 on all the settings maxed out,the game sometimes lag for a second then runs smoothly for half a minute etc etc.It does this even when I lower the settings cause I was under impression that it was the card but now I don't know.Any ideas?

probably the system trying to read data from the hard drive, try closing all open apps (skype, antivirus, firefox etc.) and see what happens.

I find that is the search indexing on the harddriver or the compression on your HHD causes this. Some games don't even run if you have Compression on your hhd.

My hhd is old and does happen to me a lot.
