DiRT Rally

The only reason why I haven't picked it up yet, is because my PC is in for repairs and I cannot play it on my laptop. But I'm overjoyed to see the development on this game. I think they have the potential to make something awesome, and I cannot wait to play it.

Also, Pikes Peak FTW!!!

*EDIT*

Let me add this:

the fact that a big development company like Codemasters is using Early Access as a development cycle is a notion I strongly support. They are in a position that they can finance a project from start to finish, they have a big team that works on this, and the community can help iron out as many bugs as possible. This to me is what Early Access should be all about. Looking at the Steam page, they have clear timelines, clear update communication, great community support and a stable product. All of this means that, when the game is finally released maybe next year, it's gonna be better than it would've been if they did go Early Access

HELLS YEAH!!!

The game is really solid! For an early access title, it has a few issues here and there but nothing game breaking, it's really solid. I haven't had a single crash or really noticed much bugs. The biggest complaint I have is the lack of content, but this will come and get added as we progress it's road map (pun intended).

Couldn't agree with you more. Loving the approach they're taking with this title.
And indeed - Pike's Peak FTW! Can't wait to download the update and give it a whirl.

Oh, and while one Coddies studio is impressing us, another is delaying the release of F1 2015 for another month.

Pikes Peak is by far the toughest course I've ever had to drive!

If you thought Nordschlieffe was difficult, I haven't even reached the end of this track!

This has helped me tremendously, if anyone's interested...

And this is just beautiful

Can't afford the game yet, but it's on my wishlist now. Probably gonna wait till its on sale well after being released from early access... Jammed some Dirt 3 in the meantime.

One of the few games that I truly get immersed in, where I tend to move my head with the corners.

As Dohc-WP reported this AM, the Dirt Rally "Tarmac Terrors Update" is now live on Steam.
The update clocks in at 7.6GB so grab it now if you still have any June bandwidth left over (or wait until tomorrow if you don't!)

Quick super-cut "The Road So Far..." video:
Here's what the update will get you:

New
 • 12 new rally stages based at Baumholder in Germany
 • Owners Club Online Events – A second DiRT Daily where you compete in your own car
 • A second weekly event where we’ll be experimenting and throwing new challenges at you
 • 5 new rally cars featuring new Group B RWD & Kit Car Classes
 • Opel Kadett GT/E 16v
 • Opel Manta 400
 • Lancia 037 Evo 2
 • Seat Ibiza Kitcar
 • Peugeot 306 Maxi
 • New calibration and options screens in “Advanced Wheel Settings” (added in v.0.4.5)
Fixes
 • Error 41 – Fixed instances of the game not booting when there is less than 2GB of free space on C:\ drive. This was one of the causes of the dreaded error 41.
 • Achievement – “Going up in the world” will now pop if you had previously purchased a Hillclimb car but not received the achievement.
 • Stability – Driving the Peugeot 405 T16 would sometimes cause stability issues, we’ve fixed those now.
 • Graphics – Quite a few changes for users running Nvidia SLI. That weird black and orange screen bug is fixed and we’ve solved the graphical corruption when using SLI and anti-aliasing on high/ultra graphical presets.
 • Audio – The engine audio level in cockpit view can now be properly controlled by the slider.
 • Gameplay – The reset button should appear sooner during those awkward moments when you beach your car at the side of the road. Though we advise not beaching your car.
 • Gameplay – Sometimes you could rev the engine so hard on the Audi Sport Quattro the “Recover vehicle” prompt would pop up, it won’t do that anymore.
 • Gameplay – We’ve planted some trees and shrubs in areas of Greece and Wales where we spotted that some of you were taking shortcuts. Taking some cuts in rally is cool but these cuts were definitely not cool.
 • Gameplay – Fixed a loophole which would let you continually repair your car in Online Hillclimb events.
 • Gameplay – Online Hillclimb events will now factor in slower times from Run 2 and they won’t overwrite faster times from Run 1.
 • Message box – Stopped the Promotion message box from incorrectly displaying when you have completed the Masters Championship and finished in the top 3 positions.
 • Save – Your advanced set ups should now save as expected
 • Oculus – Sometimes the background on the main menu would vanish, we’ve fixed that now.
 • Online Events – You’ll now be disqualified if you don’t start moving within a minute
 • Leagues – Made the text on the league screens easier to read on lower resolutions.
 • Audio – Pre-update your co-driver may have become a little disinterested if you left the centre of the track from time to time, we’ve spoken to him about his attitude.
 • Audio – Ever had two sets of music play over a replay? That’s not a remix version and it should stop happening from now on.
 • Controller Fix – Fixed an issue which meant players couldn’t change the stage conditions when using the Microsoft Sidewinder Wheel.

Damn this game is still so sexy for an early access.

Been playing a little of the Tarmac Terrors update and also trying my hand at Pikes Peak. Holy-moly that hillclimb is a bitch!

DiRT Rally World RX Update Now Live

DiRT Rally World RX Update Now Live

At the start of last month we announced our partnership with the FIA World Rallycross Championship and today we’re pleased to release the first of two new World RX updates which will bring the world’s fastest growing motorsport to DiRT Rally.

V.0.6 more commonly known as the World RX Update is now live and we’re really excited to be working with the team at the FIA World Rallycross to bring you a choice selection of drivers, cars and some of the best circuits in the calendar.

Here’s the tl;dr list of what we’ve added, changed and tweaked in this month’s update:

•Embark on a new World RX Career and Custom Events
•Two new circuits, Höljes, Sweden and Lydden Hill, England both with three routes each
•Official FIA Rallycross Championship drivers, cars and liveries
•Anti-cheat stuff which will stop the small few from messing up our leaderboards. Our next step is to tell your mum you’ve been cheating - don’t say we didn’t warn you
•Ability to identify your device as a wheel if you own one which isn’t supported yet
•A brand new DiRT Daily Event type where you’ll be competing against the community Delta
•Ability to repair a puncture mid-stage
•Ability to disable replays in the options (this should help fix the stuttering some users experience)
•Ability to remove the drivers arms without causing him to bleedout
•Now have the ability to return the wheel back to zero degrees when your car is reset

This is just the first of our World RX packs; in the next one we’ll be adding a new track, new cars and online competitive play.

There's a lot of additional fixes, tweaks and other shiny things in the 4.6GB update that's just gone up on Steam.

Their constant updates are amazing and their game is top notch. I'm enjoying picking this up early and seeing it grow. This is how Early Access should be done!

Is anyone still playing this? I got it for free with my graphics card but still have to download it. Since BeoTeK introduced me to Forza I've started loving racing games.... scratch that. I've been loving Forza games but haven't tried anything else.

The download is quite big though. I'll get it if people are still playing it. Anyone?

I love it. It is for the hardcore though. This is not really arcadey racing. It is tough as nails, this is kinda why I love it and would recommend it to anyone.

That being said, I don't really view it as a multiplayer game, this is why I think you're asking if anyone is still playing it? Rally is a time trial, go up against others times. Apart from their Rally-Cross mode or events, that is the only scene I think where there will be a multiplayer aspect, up 4 cars on track.

Awesome I love the time trial type stuff. Like in Forza 5 I tried to beat people's times. I wonder if I'll cope in something so hardcore though. Will start the download and play it in a couple of weeks. Thanks Beo.

I assume you play it with a wheel?
