Mr. Nice Guy
For me it depends on the game and the situation.
1. The Mass Effect 3 situation: I'm going to buy it no matter what. I didn't read reviews or scores or anything. It was going to be mine and I was going to enjoy it.
2. The Duke Nukem Forever situation: It's a game that I'm interested in but I'll wait and see how it goes. I end up reading reviews and check the scores.
3. The Rock Paper Shotgun situation: If they have a Wot I Think article then I read it. It's basically a review of a game without a score.
4. The Steam Gifts situation: Ooo there's a game that I don't know. Go check Steam Store page, see what Metacritic score is. Too low? Then skip.
And so forth. For me it really depends on the game and the situation.
