One of the first, and quite possibly the most memorable games i have ever played in my life was... Ecco the Dolphin on the Sega Genesis.
I cant remember how old i was at the time but i was young... my dad had picked me up and he had borrowed a friends Genesis for the weekend and then turned me loose upon the poor unsuspecting console. The first game i found had the words "dolphin" on it and back then i was dolphin crazy, so it was only natural that i played yonder Dolphin game
and play it i did... like a crack addict 
apparently my dad had to switch the genesis off at the wall and tell me it broke just to get me away from it... which in all entirety, hasnt changed much since then, only now the mains to my room get cut off at the DB board on the opposite end of the house
Looking back now, if it wasnt for Ecco i wouldnt have forced my dad to get me my first Sonic the Hedgehog game for the genesis thus denying myself from knowing one of the more famous gaming characters in history... but luckily i did badger my dad, and he did buy me Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and ultimately started the proverbial snow ball effect that has developed into my gaming habit/addiction.
Due to it being so long ago i cant remember the finer details, but i must thank Ecco the Dolphin... for without him i would not be the gamer i am today... i know that i would have more than likely become a gamer anyways, but Ecco will always have a soft spot in my Cherry Tart purely because it was my first gaming memory and because... well, Ecco is a fudging dolphin, whats not to love??
