DomainCheap let my domain expire

Solitude

Mr. Nice Guy
I paid DomainCheap in the 5th of September to renew my domain. Got a receipt and everything. Yesterday I got an email from CO.ZA that my domain expired.

Now I'm unable to get DomainCheap to reply to my ticket. Their live chat keeps saying that he will forward the ticket to concern admin and then nothing happens.

I wanted this sorted yesterday already. This domain will become deleted and I feel helpless and can't do anything about it.

The telephone number that CO.ZA provides for DomainCheap doesn't work and their live chat person doesn't want to give me a phone number. My requests to speak to a supervisor or someone that can help me is ignored.

I'm at my wits end. I took leave for yesterday but have been unable to enjoy it because I am so stressed about this domain. It makes my blood boil that not only did they allow this to happen but that there's seemingly no way for me to fix it.

Please, if anyone can help. I just don't know what to do anymore.

That's very poor service. Maybe try register it through another provider like Hetzner? If it goes through, ask for a refund from DomainCheap.

Luckily the online complaining has led to some email addresses and telephone numbers. One of the owners is now looking into it.

Okay, it looks like complaining online has helped.

Thanks to everyone who helped me. The whois of the domain now shows it as registered. It's still showing in domaincheap's web panel as not renewed but hopefully that's just a mistake on their website.

Sorry to hear about your troubles.

I had to renew my domain this month as well. I'm with Elitehost and they have been great so far.
When I was with WebAfrica though I constantly got warnings about high resource usage.

Elitehost's owner still owes me a beer. But that's another story. :)

Thank you for Cheap Gamer btw. I follow you on Twitter and I get your RSS feeds every day.

So today I get a final notice invoice from DomainCheap for an invoice that was generated today only.

They want to charge me for renewing my domain for next year. From 2016 to 2017.

Now I already moved my domains away from them because of their incompetence and now they want me to pay for something that didn't happen and can't happen.

There's serious problems at DomainCheap.

And my domains are still showing in my control panel at DomainCheap even though the domains aren't with them anymore. Plus the Next Due Date is still showing the date that has already expired.

I also got a final notice for an invoice generated today.

Are you also with DomainCheap? Does your invoice also have to do with something in the future?

I hate that they don't have live support and don't reply to tickets. You should see the amazing support I've been getting at Domains.co.za. DomainCheap should be ashamed of themselves.

No, hosting for the 22 September to 22 October period. It says, due date 22 September, invoice date 22 October.

Yeah mine is very similar for the domain. David replied to my ticket though and said I can ignore the invoice. I asked him to delete it or set it as cancelled.

Glad you got sorted, Solitude. I'd ignore that invoice, if I were you..

A bit OT, I'm looking for hosting for our wedding photo's, in other words low data usage except for the initial upload, and low resource requirements, but a big chunk of hard drive space is required. Typical packages have small data caps with small hard drive space allocations, and high data caps with high hard drive space allocations. Does anyone know of hosting where you can mix and match a bit?

Stop using incompetent, small companies to try and save money :)

They used to be good. The owner used to be active at MyBroadband. I would rather support small companies than big ones. As a small business owner myself I know how difficult it all is.

But yes, it has been confirmed. DomainCheap has been bought by Web Africa. And I'm feeling better now. The owner apologised and everything looks to be sorted.
