Domino's Pizza coming to SA? Well, sort of.

I just read an article online stating that there is some 30 year licensing deal happening with Domino's in African countries that includes South Africa. I nearly got excited but then read that it has to do with Scooters pizza merely rebranding their stores in Domino's. They're not actually going to be offering the Domino's product. In fact, the whole menu is apparently going to be the same as what it is now, but with a different logo.

That sucks though because Domino's have some AWESOME pizzas on offer, whilst Scooters....well, not really. If anything this a downturn for Domino's as a brand. Too bad we are once again going to miss out.

Either way, no pizzeria beats Col'Cacchios any ways

We used to have Domino's in Durban many years ago in Umbilo. But i have also (my own taste) preferred Debonairs something meaty and Chicken and mushroom

Some oke is making $$$, that's the point.

But like I was telling a colleague, South Africa has some of THE best pizzerias in the World. Our ingredients are top notch. So to be honest, I don't see the need for Americanized Pizza in South Africa when our own offerings are miles ahead.

Don't like Debonairs and Scooters is OK, but nothing special.

Well scooters is a re-branding of domino's in the first place I remember the twisty bread

Pizza Perfect is great. Here in Pretoria, we've got Caraffa, Toni's and Coco's. All wood fired ovens. I tried Col Cacchio or however it is spelled, but found it mediocre.

Here in north eastern jhb we have a lovely pizza perfect. Best pizzas from a franchise. Then in sandton we have this really expensive place that you make your own pizza with really awesome toppings like biltong

Planning to get that earthfire ceramic pizza oven from yuppiechef in the near future, wood-fired portable ceramic oven... can even throw in charcoal and use it as a braai. Reviews seem to be positive also, next best thing to building my own oven.
