DOOM 3 BFG for PC is bullshit

Been playing with the sikk mod variants for past few days and wow it looks great, but may still brutalize your pc. Still it gives a lot better looks and features over the BFG. Only thing that you might miss is the lost mission.

And yes, I'd be lying if I didn't mention that doom3 gets a lot of wrongs, but still if you want to play it I'd suggest that you don't get BFG right of the bat if you really want to play the lost mission.

Rather wait for the bargain bin and in the meantime if you need HD, upgrade and remastered try one of the sikk mods:

PS. Note that doom bfg doesn't support mods or so it seems as fs_game does nothing there is also no option "mods" in the menu...

I got this to play Doom 3, ended up playing doom 1 and 2 coz its just sooooo much better.
 
I'll just buy the original and play that (it's cheaper).
Never finished the game because it became to difficult for me... Back then.
Think I was by the second last part of the game before I decided to stop.

Disappointed by the Xbox version!? So would you choose PC or Xbox as the platform? I'm thinking of getting it for my little brother for Christmas and I know zilch about what games are good for what! The most experience I've had with games have been with Nintendo consoles which obviously is not necessarily for the serious gamer (though does not make it less good!) I've been recommended this place for Cheap PC Games but would like any other tips from you professionals.

Any help would be appreciated :)
 
Don't buy PC games overseas (especially from the UK), SA has some of the cheapest PC games in the world. Check takealot.com, plenty of cheap PC games there.

How old is your brother? Any idea of what games he likes. I'd be happy to recommend some games to look at.

I've heard one of the biggest gripes is that the lighting has been upped significantly, making everything a lot brighter than in the original game to the point where some details in certain areas get lost in the bleached-out effect.

I dunno, from everything I've heard it really sounds like getting the original Doom 3 with a few graphic mods sounds like a lot better idea.

I didn't notice it being brighter. I did notice that a lot of the old monster closet or popout moments sucked.
 
This darn sikk mod***, it's making me play doom3 :mad:

I wouldn't know why otherwise you would want to play doom3 as bfg :confused:


***settled on using "VelociREAL Ultimate - Ultimate DooM Experience!" with modified config files as per tweakguides
