No, no damned video for those not attending QuakeCon....that F!cking sucks! Hate how things have changed...anyway

Anyway, at least some news about the game.

  • Fast-paced combat against multiple enemies at once - Doom 3 this ain't.
  • Set outside a massive UAC research facility on Mars as it's being invaded by the forces of Hell.
  • Hellknights, cyberdemons, revenants, mancubii, and other classic monsters were spotted throughout the demo.
  • Classic Doom weapons, including the fan-favorite double-barrell shotgun return. Plasma rifle, rocket launcher, and the good old chainsaw were also shown off.
  • Go fast. "Doom is not about about taking cover" said executive producer Marty Stratton.
  • Doom is powered by IdTech 6, and will be for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. They are "committed" to 1080P at 60 frames-per-second.
  • Wonderfully gory close range executions, including special ones for dropping down on enemies from above.
  • Revenants now have jetpacks and can hover about while firing rockets at you.
  • At least one weapon, the combat shotgun, has an alternate fire mode, which allows you to charge up and release multiple shells in rapid succession.
  • Sprinting, double-jumping and mantling are all possible, making for very fluid motion during combat.
  • Enemies can teleport in for old-school style ambushes
  • Dying results in a crazy fatality scene depending on what killed you a la Dead Space. Revenants rip your arms off and punch straight through your combat helment.
  • Old school mechanics. No reloading your clip, hold as many weapons as you want, health and ammo pick-ups etc. NO REGENERATING HEALTH.

It sucks that they are so secretive about Doom 4.... id Software isnt what they used to be.... bowing to their masters with a ball gag in their mouth, begging to be whipped...

I still remember the Doom III vid they released at some Apple conference with Steve Jobs to show off the Geforce 3...

But the release date hasn't even been announced? and to say they not the same company because they being secretive is ridiculous. They may not be the same company, but that's not a valid reason to say so.

Who said anything about a release date? What does that have to do with a trailer? Almost all games get a trailer way before a release date is announced. All I am saying is that id Software have always been very open about their games, trailers and screenshots. Why make such a QuakeCon attendees only. QuakeCon over and done now.
Show the rest of us too, we've waited long enough and are very eager to see what the future Doom holds.

I always thought how cool it would be if a company kept something secret and then suddenly one day just release it, instead of the usual build up.

Like imagine Valve just announced and released Half Life 3 tomorrow.

I'd have a heart attack spanning the length of the game and then die a peaceful, happy death.

That would be so awesome! Imagine if they annouce it on April fools day, everyone shruggs it off as a bad joke, give them crap for it and is stunned the next day when its available on STEAM.

Gabe is the most evil person ever, I'm sure he eats little kittens for snacks.... :wtf:

Really bizarre thing to get upset about. How do you know they are not going to still do these things? Maybe the game isn't far enough along to be hyping it up with screen shots and videos. Without a release date, we don't know what the timeline is. How about be upset with a company once they release a game you don't like rather than be upset they don't hype it up in the manner you like? They could release screen shots, and make major changes and then everyone is upset the game doesn't look like screen shots from a year before release.
