First off, it's the Quake announcer, UT announcer sounds slightly different.
Secondly, It's been in the original Dota, the war3 custom map, since the start. Why? I don't know but it works.
So to answer your question, it's in Dota 2 because it was in Dota 1, that's pretty much the only reason.

Either way, if you know something very well from one game, it's pretty annoying to hear it in another one.

Edit: It's definitely Unreal Tournament.

UT2004...

Only some modded version of Quake3 that were doing a round in the LANs had it.

Actually I can't even see the appeal of it even if it weren't a team game. It's so slow paced, how people do not get bored after the first 10 minutes is beyond me. I won't tell anyone not to try it though, I'm sure it's popular for a reason, I just can't see it.

Got destroyed last night. We were 4 friends and got into a CM game with a random Russian. Tried to ask him which hero he could, would or want to play. His response: "yes"
started naming heroes:
clinks, void, pa?
response: "yes"

So we decided screw it and picked clinks for him in the hope that he understood.
NOPE. he picks one of the supports we wanted to try an aggressive tri-lane with.
And the rest is fairly obvious. He goes on to feed, they get lovely team fights etc. etc.

Ugh, 30min of frustration.

There is no hope unfortunately.
I play with my Russian Smurf account as my main account is banned for 3 days.
Cool game starts, immediately call jungle, pick doom.
Complete noobs on the team, pick 4 carries. Then rage at me, my text reply was, I will not delete dota, i will play dota till d*mb sh*t learn to read before picking hero's.Lucky for me one of them was having connection issues, so i waited 30 mins of him dc and re till the game was safe to leave.

Gosh I really miss my main account.

Ha ha ha RACE...Bro you know i would come up with something more original, like using batrider, use the molitov to push the enemys away before dying, OR ulti them and pull them away from my Allies.:)
 
have you noticed that most pub games end up with 8 carries :wtf:. And someone always wants to go drow or Riki...and all they want to farm is a crystals....

Or pick tiny and needlessly toss your ally into the enemy team when they are 5,
or pick pudge and hook your ally back as he's about to get the final hit on an enemy,
or pick venge, run in, swap teammate in,
use cogs to trap your allies and hook yourself out,
pick kotl, summon an ally and run directly into enemy team,
send the carry back to base just as a team fight breaks out as chen,
sleep carry or who ever with bane as you're trying to get away,
blood seeker to silence an ally...

Wow, there's a lot that can hurt your team in dota :/

Yeah do not play much with my low end account, so im still ROFL everytime, I see, 8 carries, auto attacks, Nervous players who do not know when to go into team battles, Rage from creep, Standing under tower while trying to kill the enemy. Its all just too entertaining.
One thing though on the low end account, they don't run around screaming Report or Noob. Unless they came from the Twilight server.

lol, twilight can get ridiculous times. my favourite times though are when the guy who picks himeslf a PL decides its prudent to go mid solo :p.

or better yet the guy who chooses fuzzy and farms crit before lifesteal
