Did anyone manage to get a decent score in the beast battle? Couldn't really play yesterday because I had classes all day and had to study for a test. I hate it when companies do their events in the week :/

Me and my group of friends just farmed jade token. We would do our little strat, get just over 100k and start again. each time getting 250 tokens. The next threshold is 600k and the reward is a measly 600 tokens so we figured our way was the quickest to get tokens.
 
I have yet to fight the beast, is the mode actually fun? I didn't really enjoy Wraith night, and mildly enjoyed Diretide.

Played it and didn't like it. It's repetitive; and moreover not truly engaging to play, [and not nearly as fun as a human opponent].

If you didn't like wraith night you probably won't like this. It's pretty much just like fighting Rosh at the end of Diretide. except you're only 5 people.

The only real reason to play it is to compete for the red hoof courier or to farm jade tokens. It feels like grinding a boss in a mmo really a waste tbh

Btw I'm up for some games today so just send me a message through steam

Oh and as always you get afkers that ruin the event even more :/

Gotta say the new ranking system is pretty epic, generally play with awesome people that know what they are doing and that aren't douche's. I've had 1 or 2 ranked matches that just didn't work, but other than that I have won every single one of them, think I've only lost 3 of them out of about 20-25 matches.

Yip, its ok when you play with people you know but it gets boring quickly and I would rather jam a normal game.
On a side note, I really don't like the whole skill swopping thing either..lol Think I am getting old

Me? Grinding in Dota? Pfft. Screw that noise. I will either trade or buy tournament tickets bundled with items (at least the good tournaments :p)

Considering the circumstances surrounding its inception (Valve losing Skeleton King and giving us Wraith King), I doubt it. We might actually get the fabled Frostivus this year, but I'm not entirely keen on these events (this includes the year beast). The only one that remotely interested me was Diretide.

THe first frostivus was fun where you could turn into your greevil that you hatched and depending which essences you used would depend on your skill set

From what I recall, there was never a 2012 Frostivus, the 1st one was also cancelled and replaced with the Greevling (the mode you just described), unless I'm mistaken and each time they say it's cancelled is part of the lore of whatever mode they give us and Frostivus is just the event while they give us a different mode for the event... I don't know, I think I just confused myself now :confused:

AFAIK Frostivtus is jsut a general term and not a game mode i.e. this bloom festival has the beast fight next year bloom festival will have somethign else same as frostivus year 1 had greevil year 2 ahd Wraith night

What?? No skeleton King??? I loved the look and animation of the old sk from the original dota... was the sickest model for me IMHO.
