Dragon Age Origins Awakening

New companion Justice revealed:

Not all the denizens of the Fade identify with darker emotions like rage and pride. Some embody the nobler qualities found in humanity: faith, hope, compassion, and justice. Justice is not a name, it is an identity. A victim of magic gone awry, Justice has been torn from the Fade against his will and trapped in the body of a dead Grey Warden. Lost and disoriented, he seeks a guide to help make sense of this alien world and demonstrate what it means to be human.

Architect enemy revealed, will be familiar for those of us who read the calling.

The Architect is the first darkspawn to develop a will of his own--an unusual outcast who seems not to be subject to the call of the Old Gods, nor to the other darkspawn compulsions. But although he is highly intelligent, the Architect has little understanding of humanity. Treating him as anything other than what he is–a darkspawn–would be folly.

Wending woods revealed

The Wending Wood is an area of forested slopes and lush greenery, divided by the trade route known as the Pilgrim's Path -- named for the faithful devotees of Andraste who walk that very road to reach Amaranthine, and who have left ancient relics scattered about the wood to honor Andraste and the Maker. For centuries, the wood was known as a place of breathtaking beauty and tranquility, but things have changed in recent months: a clan of Dalish elves has set up camp within the wood, and their proximity to human villages is making the locals uneasy. Even worse, roaming bands of darkspawn have been seen in the wood, undoubtedly gathering for some nefarious purpose. For now, the people of Amaranthine can only pray that whatever troubles the Wending Wood passes soon.

Kal hirol revealed

The dwarven fortress of Kal'Hirol was long known as a center of learning for the smith caste. Its workshops are where Paragon Hirol conceived his famous improvements to golem resilience and power, and where Hirol's favorite student developed a method for storing refined lyrium that is still used today. These breakthroughs brought Kal'Hirol great prosperity; its passageway are said to have glittered with gold and silver. But the fall of Kal'Hirol is shrouded in mystery. All that is known is that the fortress's elite one day showed up at Orzammar's great doors, exhausted and in despair over the loss of their home.

All the new content sounds intriguing. Especially looking forward to the new classes and spells.

Soo excited for this! Finished the original game with a Arcane Warrior mage and now I'm replaying the original with a Reaver fighter class! Very keen to try out the specs which allows the warrior to become more magelike and the mage to become more warrior like! :-D

I am looking forward to the fact that you can have 3 specializations per character. Also there seems to be more options to make a fighter/rogue than in the original. Also wanting to see how the choices you made impact on the game.

Same here. Unless they add a few diff monsters as I found that it lacked it that area. Take Temple of elemental evil, had loads of diff monsters. It was a pitty the game was buggy.

I don't really see why they needed to add different monsters. You were facing a specific foe(dark spawn).

+1

I can't wait to respec my warrior with some of those new skills.

I came. I saw. I pre-ordered.
Let the obsession begin once more.
/perhaps this time I'll figure out how to specialise.

I also felt like there could have been more monster types. Not from a story point of view. For example in the old balders gate series, you had to use a lot of strategy and knowing what works well against different monster types. E.G. blunt weapons vs golems.

But Dragon Age was brilliant. So this is a very minor complaint! Sooooo stoked for Awakening!

This might be a stupid question but do you need the previous DLC's for Awakening? I haven't even completed the original game (recently rerolled a mage after 13 levels of hacking and slashing with my warrior) but once I do complete it I'd probably get the DLCs.

No you don't. You should have shale since it was free with the game but you need return to ostagar or warden's keep. Since the dlc equipment doesn't transfer unlike the normal equipment you won't be missing much if you don't have the two dlc's.

The problem is now that i know about it, the endless sleepless night ill have till it comes out :(

It comes out on Friday,Today if you are in the US or getting the steam version. Not long to go at all, some guys already have their copies since US stores broke the street date three days ago.

Awesome, thanks!

And yep I got Shale with the original game.

I have to correct this since at the time when I posted the faq said no dlc items would be imported. They have corrected this with the new launch faq and items you got from the return to ostagr dlc does import.

How do I play Dragon Age: Awakening?

On PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 console, start up Dragon Age with the Awakening disc in the drive, then press New Game. Select Awakening campaign icon.

How do I import my DA:O character?

To import your Dragon Age: Origins character into Awakening:

For PC:

* Select OTHER CAMPAIGNS at the start menu.

* Select Dragon Age: Awakening from the list of campaigns.

* Select IMPORT FROM ANOTHER MODULE at the next screen.

* You will be presented the character from your last played save game. Select IMPORT, or choose ADVANCED to select another save game you wish to use

What level do new Grey Wardens start at?

If you create a new Grey Warden for your adventure in Awakening they will start at level 18.

All specialization, attribute, talent and skill points will be unassigned, allowing you to customize your character from the very start.

Do I need to insert my Origins disk to play Awakening?

If you are only playing Awakening, you do not need to swap discs on any platform. Simply start Dragon Age with your Awakening disc and away you go!

Will my items transfer to Awakening when I import my character?

Most items will import into Awakening from Origins. All items obtained from the Return to Ostagar DLC will transfer. Weapons, armor and other items that are unique to all other DLC releases will not transfer.

Your storage chest at Warden's Keep will not be accessible and items stored in it will not transfer to Awakening. Be sure to go back and retrieve anything you think you might want before importing your character to Awakening. You will have a new storage chest at Vigil Keep once you are in Awakening.

Do I have to complete the base game to import my character?

No. You do not have to complete the base game to import your character. However completing Dragon Age: Origins may open different options for your character in Awakening.

When I try to install my Awakening expansion the auto-installer freezes and returns an "Installation Failed" message.

There is a potential workaround, which can be found in the Dragon Age Customer Support Site: http://help.dragonage.com/cgi-bin/eadragonage.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?&p_faqid=46545

15-20 hours sounds short to me, but only relative to Origins, which was 60+ hours. I think I'll get this next month maybe.
