October 23, 2009 - Developer Bioware made a surprise announcement this morning for PlayStation 3 owners.

Dragon Age: Origins is now planned to ship on November 3, the same date as both the PC and Xbox 360 versions.

"We're excited to confirm that all three versions of Dragon Age: Origins will be available to fans on November 3 in North America," said Ray Muzyka, Group General Manager, RPG/MMO Group of EA, and Co-Founder, BioWare.

"The Dragon Age: Origins development team was able to polish the PlayStation 3 version to our high standard of quality and we are ready to deliver the richest and deepest role-playing fantasy experience across all three platforms."

Dragon Age: Origins was originally scheduled to ship "later in November," BioWare told IGN in early August.

"We are really happy with the results on the PS3. It was our first experience and we were really impressed with the power of the machine," added BioWare's Mark Darrah in a liveblog chat.

Great news for all you PS3 owners who were planning to get this game. :)

I can't decide if this is the best or the worst news ever. I was planning on getting the PC CE with this month's paycheck and the PS3 version at the end of November. Now I have to decide if I want the PC CE or the PS3 version first as I can't afford both this month.

stefan9, you getting the PC version? Which would you get if they were released on the same day here...?

For this game if you have a pc to run it it would always be the pc. It was designed for the pc. The console version is a port adjust to the different system.

Since the game is developed for pc it has a few advantages:

1.The Baldur's Gate style camera is only on the pc. Consoles due to their limited ram can not handle the camera being zoomed out to that effect so that angle was cut from the console.
2.Toolset. PC gamers will have access to the toolset and the mods. The same mods who did brilliant work on baldur's gate and never winter nights have been working on mods in the beta for the last 6 months. BW is looking at a way to bring some of it to the console but MS and Sony don't like it so whether it happens is uncertain.
3.More quickbar slots on the pc. Console limited to 6 by using the radial menu. PC has 12 plus the ability to create multiple bars and scroll through them.
4. Ability to move all party members at once while in combat by dragging and click with mouse. Console player has to move party members one at a time.
5.Difficulty is higher on pc. Enemies come in waves on the console while on pc they come all at once. One reviewer said because of the difficult difference he was able to reach the same point on console in 6.5 hours compared to 10.5 hours on pc.
6. PC version plays more tactical while the console version plays more like an action rpg according to the Developers. I want the BG experience which is a tactical rpg not an action rpg. Mouse and k/b are better suited to tactical pause and play as opposed to the controller.

So... PC. Check.

Only if you a pc to run the game. If you only have a console its still going to be a great just not as good as the pc version imho. Some of the things I listed can be a positive for some people so it depends on what type of gamer you are, you might prefer a more action game as opposed to tactical.

No way dude, it would take all the fun out of it. Diablo 3 is there to cater for ARPG fetishes. DA should be Baldur's Gate on steroids :) Anyway... I like both, but have always preferred BW's unique take on RPG's. If I had a console, I would still get it for PC.

Misleading guys. PS 3 is only releasing hsimultaneous for US, not for europe and rest of the world.

Ah, I see. Thanks for clearing that up. So I'll still get the PC CE first, now I just have to hope that my PC will be able to run it acceptably.

Have you tested the character creator?? If it launches you can run the game. You can't measure performance but you can make sure you can run it.

Nope, not yet. My PC meets the minimum requirements though, but just barely. Am still getting the CE regardless of whether it works or not.
