sktechup is quite easy to learn, and can be very powerful once you get the hang of it, then for rendering use kerkythea

Downloaded Sketchup. Did a layout just for fun, my flat (dimensions from memory, too lazy to measure)

So I think thats actually good enough to show an Architect who will do the proper drawings. You can also show dimensions which is great. You'll just need some patience. I should look into a few tuts. There must be a better way than what I just did.
