This movie, I watched it last night... and just wow. It's a 80's styled movie, but plays out in modern times. And the music was pretty good. It's a move where the hero has no name or background. It's the opposite to mainstream fast and furious style movies. Where there's little talking but it was quite the emotional ride for me. I absolutely loved how they showcased the hero in a different light.

If you can, go watch it. If you are the kind of person who likes something different.

here's the main song for the movie, also a great song:

Gotta agree with you dude, watched this awesome movie last week. The cinematography is simply amazing. Definitely one of the best movies I have seen in a very long time.

Apparently some woman sued the cinema or the production studio over this movie because it wasn't the movie she had seen in the trailers . I'll try quickly find the sauce of that article.

EDIT: Found it!! :) Sauce

I liked it but didnt at the same time , its a weird feeling , there were long moments of nothing in the movie and to be honest I expected a bit more driving .
It is a well acted movie yes but seriously it could have been cut down to a short film , in seconds .
Overall there isnt anything unique about it , it's charm that you find appealing is the lack of back story , or character development
Were they give you just enough to make you fill in the blanks from movies you have already seen. So your head is working over time trying to piece it together so much so that you don't notice how utterly slow and bland it is. If this was the idea then well done to them. But certainly in this day and age with movie tickets the price they are I want to be entertained .This is not a mainstream movie , and most people not going to like it for one reason and this is the most important reason I have for watching movies .....I want to be entertained and no this did not do that.

I didn't make it past 30min, got bored. Maybe I should give it another go.

Yes you should. The first 30 minutes can get a bot boring, but believe me when I say the rest of the movie is well worth watching.

Venom you hit the nail on the head. I'm just addicted to movies where there's no back story to a mysterious character. In this one you can almost apply it to real life which makes it just that much more believable. It inspired me to spend some more cash on my car and build it up... :D

Here's a quote from Rolling Stone:

"Violence drives Drive. A heist gone bad involving a femme fatale (an incendiary cameo from Mad Men's Christina Hendricks) puts blood on the walls. Ditto a pounding Driver delivers at a strip club. An elevator scene with Driver, Irene and an assassin is time-capsule sexy and scary. In league with camera whiz Newton Thomas Sigel and composer Cliff Martinez, Refn creates a fever dream that sucks you in. Or maybe you'll hate it. Drive is a polarizer. It's also pure cinema, a grenade of image and sound ready to blow."

If experiencing art is your idea of being entertained, then Drive is undeniably one of the best rides you're likely to take this year. It is an outstanding example of how film can be an artform.

Venom, you mentioned how there are 'long moments of nothing' in this film. Precisely. It takes a truely masterful team of filmmakers to produce moments of brilliance out of moments of nothingness, which is exactly what they did with Drive. The almost over-the-top violence sprinkled throughout the second part of the movie, portrays a kind of shocking reality which keeps you watching till the end.

The highlight for me was the incredible chemistry between Ryan Gossling and Carey Mulligan, even though nothing much happened between them on-screen. This is a love story that both men and women can enjoy. If you're looking for explosions, tits and nitrous, then steer clear. Drive is more likely to make you feel fulfilled than entertained.

Juice, don't forget the music! I loved the 80's theme they had going on... and the camera angles were really interesting.

The music was indeed fitting, plus the cinematography was, as Wald stated, amazing.

Axon if you haven't seen it already, you might also enjoy Melancholia, My Son My Son What Have Ye Done, Virgin Suicides and Lost in Translation.

Lost in translation I have seen and I think I've seen Melancholia. I'll just go and make sure, thanks for the recommendations Juice.
