Duke Nukem Forever has been in development for a little while. To give you a sense of just how much time has passed since it was first announced, Gran Turismo--a series known for its punctuality--saw releases 1-5 hit shelves in the intervening years. Skepticism turned to actual anticipation last September, when Gearbox unveiled Duke Nukem Forever in playable form at PAX. OK, so the game was really, really, real. A lingering question remained, however: When would we be able to finally take this thing home and play it?

As it turns out, we now know when that's happening.

"Somehow the guys at Game Informer magazine discovered Duke Nukem Forever's launch date before I did," joked Randy Pitchford, president of Gearbox Software and executive producer of Duke Nukem Forever. "But I cannot imagine any better video game news source team than Game Informer to reveal the moment of truth for the most inconceivable, incorrigible and inspiring turn around story in the history of the video game industry – the coming of Duke Nukem Forever on May 3, 2011."

“The moment fans all over the world have been waiting for is almost here,” says Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K. “May 3, 2011 marks Duke’s return as he unleashes his brash and brutally honest wit on the world. His return is going to be epic and one that will make video gaming history!”

May 3 is the North American release date. May 6 is worldwide.

Oh I pray to the gaming gods that this is not some average shooter(Wolfenstien)

Looks good. Lol at the trailer :D

Any demos out for PC or must we make up mind on the strength of the Vids?

Am I the only one who thinks this is going to be underwhelming?

While it looks 'cool' there is something about it that doesn't make it seem to be 'the one'. Maybe they need to finish the game first.

Duke Nukem Forever is supposed to be the game that could've been. Just like the Matrix sequels it should've remained unmade and FULL of possibilities.

IF they released it in 2001, it would have been awesome. Now, eventhough I am a huuuuuge duke fan, I can't help and think that it's going to be a dead average shooter. Like Quake 4 was back in the day.

What Mappy said.

It's like Gran Tourismo 5 ... if you wait too long and cause too much hype, eventually the industry surpasses you. Yes GT5 is awesome if you only look at GT4, but Forza 3 is actually better, which is embarrassing considering Forza 4 is almost out.

I'm still looking forward to it, still buying it and going to play it to bits.

Wonder what the MP has in store for us :D

Am I the only one who thinks the graphics in this trailer looks a little outdated?

I was just thinking the same thing. In all honestly, leave the nostalgia of Duke back where it belongs. My honest opinion, they are resurrecting a dead horse, it's going to be sub-par and the only thing that's going to be FOREVER, is the Duke Nukem reputation that is ruined. :D

the simple fact of the matter is this. No matter how incredible, amazing, mind-blowing, orgasmic or otherwise fantastic this game it, it can never justify the 12 year wait :-(

I will believe this the day i actually see it on a shelf at my local store, or when moody tells us "in stock"

Otherwise im not holding my breath. Who knows, maybe they will delay the 12 years by another 12 months :p
