Duke Nukem Forever review roundup

Wow, some of those reviews are drowning in biased and unfair criticism. I'd say that at its very worst it's a 6.5/10 or 7/10 and, personally, I give it an 8.

It's an enjoyable game. Yes there are a few things I don't like (checkpoint saves, no mighty foot, the 2-weapon limit and no large areas or even secret rooms--at least none that I've found yet) but whoever gives this game anything less than 6/10 must have some serious emotional butt-hurt issues.

I heart Duke :3

Wish i could say I didn't see this coming. I would appear that Duke Nukem is indeed an Analog Clock in a Digital Age.

Hey I'm enjoying this game thoroughly :D so I couldn't care less for the scores that this game is getting :)

Good to see I'm not the only one.

The game no doubt has its flaws, but as soon as you stop comparing it to current games and their standards, and you compare it to Duke, it's quite enjoyable

My Biggest question is this... would you walk into a game shop, pull out 500-600 bucks, play the game and feel like it was worth every single damn cent you payed for it? if not... wait for pre played :D thatsa watta ima gonna do XD

I have to admit they sould take the 2 gun limt away and the driving I dont care for. Other wise the game I think is how duke should be, but make it more outrageous and over the top like duke 3D was.

I am playing DNF on my PC and am LOVING it. Yeah, the gfx are not the best, but this game rawks!!!!

If you don't like naked chicks, coarse humor, "roleplay toilet movements", kicking ass, and all around fun, then go play gears of war or something ;-) Oh did I mention lap dances :-)

This game is great, not on any one single thing, its how it was put together which makes it great. Shooting hoops, playing pinball, going to the gym, squishing tiny aliens, fighting huge bosses, so much to do and see in Duke and so many subtle references to other games. This game is great.

I'm purely looking at it from an old school style perspective but not comparing it to anything else and ja I'm certainly making the most of it. Now just to wait until MP starts going live then all is a go!! :D

Yeah on the MP side of things, the stuff they ship the game with is basically not ideal in terms of hosting
It allows for one 8 player server to be hosted for every installation of DNF, ie, one machine, eight players
The Server laos launches but there is no way of telling if anyone can actualyl see or join it

Spartan is working on it,but we are hoping they give us something more substantial to work with once the US releases the game tomorrow

I had a feeling this game wouldn't live up to all the expectations...I mean considering all the hype it got you'd at least think that it would be a good game :P I wouldn't have got it anyway

Agree with Sycogrim. Play yourself to see if you like it or not. Reviews are just a guideline.

Problem is, I'm not spending +-R500 to "see" if I like it :p
That is why there are reviews, if the mayority says it's bad then chances are I'm not going to enjoy it.

Haha yeah, can't wait to shrink some people online! :D

U playing it online for PC or what?

I will purchase it this weekend me thinks and let ya'll know what I think. But it seems that people (reviewers) are looking at it all wrong... Just like BulletStorm. Everyone (mostly reviewers) were all like, no, that game is shit. But it wasn't made to be the best game ever! if you just relax and play it, its good, relaxing, stress-relieving fun, from beginning to end (except the end which was crap but i won't go into further detail so as not to spoil it for anyone who now wants to play it. ;) (not that it would make any difference since it was spoilt when they made it ) )

.

No mate Bulletstorm was a crap game. Predictable, repetitive and utterly forgettable. In a competitive market I refuse to waste money on something that "isn't made to be the best". If a developer is willing to pass off a lack luster title like this as AAA title with the excuse that "it wasn't made to be the best" they can't get my money. I'll wait for bargin bin or pre-owned... if that.

Duke Nukem Forever is exactly what I expected it to be.
I dont understand all the flaming thats going on , obviously there wasnt constant coding of the game over the past decade ,
on the contrary , so many times the engine was dumped for a newer one and then so much had to be re worked.
I blame George for that , him being insane about the development of the game really hurt it.
I now hope that Gearbox has the IP , they can release their own version of Duke entirely produced by them.
They finished the game with what they had and Take2 wanted the game to be released , refusing to throw more money down the deep dark hole that was the vaporware production time they had to show for their money.
Gearbox did what was expected and I must say , I enjoy duke as much as I did back in the duke3d days.
Is it going to win design awards ? Probably not.
Is it worth buying ? For me , yes , been waiting since school days for this game and I can thank nostalgia for the fun I am having with it.
Would I have the same level of enjoyment if I didnt have the old duke3d to relate to ? I doubt it.

At the very least paying for the game shows take2 that the Duke IP is one worth spending money on and I wish gearbox the best of luck in future projects.
