Duke Nukem will return

We can blame no one but ourselves. It is called making money and while money can be made from this IP , it will be.

Just as much as COD should've been canned long ago, but greed keeps it going.

Which is why I didn't buy it. :p Everytime I get tempted by nostalgia my wife "klaps" me and reminds me that is sucks.

So we can expect a new, shitty game every 14 years? O noes!!!

Look out for Duke Nukem: Forever And a Day, Coming Fall 2025 to a Reality Simulation Unit near you!

I'm sure I'll get round to playing Duke Nukem Forever, but I'll wait a few months for the price to drop. Shouldn't take too long.
I reckon if you don't like the game, don't buy it. Does it really matter if they bring out more? There's always crappy games around. The choice of whether or not to play them is up to you.

Interesting thing from that article though. Could there be a Bioshock movie coming out? If so, I really hope it's done well, not like most game spin-off's. I think Bioshock has great potential as a movie. They must just not stuff it up

Sounds like this one crashed and burned. The last time I played a DN game was DN3D. Sounds like it was a good thing that I gave this one a skip.

LOL keep on hating sir, Duke Nukem I did not think was that good.

i seriously think the next one will be better

let's face it. the game stank of a 12 year legacy that needed to be put down so that the franchise can get a entire rethink

in terms of rebooting/refreshing a franchise. Duke needs it.

Sorry to say but i doubt it. Duke as a character is an antique, he is a throw back to 90's action stats like Van Damn or Stellone. There is a reason we don't see movies like that anymore and there is a reason we don't see games like this. Gaming has evolved past the juvenile BS of Dukes heyday (mostly). It is also the reason you can't reboot him like you can Lara Croft, as soon as you adapt Duke to modern standards you destroy the character. There will always be a niche where Duke will live forever with his korny/dirty/foul one liners will be funny but to the general public it will be like the Expendables - a truly pointless B-Movie that is forgotten almost immediately.

precisely why i think a reboot is needed, Duke can be a truly modern action gaming hero once more but he needs to shed his old ways, the Duke i remember is in DNF and i appreciate the title for that, but it's time to move on. Kudos to Gearbox for releasing the game, but i think they're gonna do something spectacular with the franchise and character now that the stigma is finished with. watch this space :)

and on the Expendables, decent proper actioner again, no story fluff just all out carnage :)

need more of it really

If he sheds his old ways he wont be Duke anymore, he will just be another <Insert appropriate gaming protagonist archetype here>

then you might aswell label Nathan Drake into there.

let's put it this way, they won't kill it entirely, maybe tone it down a notch.

if i'm wrong i'm wrong but if i'm right it's gonna be good :)

You could, you could say it for any gaming Character, Master Chief, Kratos, Solid Snake - If you changed their character then they cease to be a character and becomes just another faceless gaming protagonist.

I just can't see this IP ever working in todays climate.

keep a open mind and you are bound to be surprised

sad thing is majority of gamers are so jaded these days they just can't do it

My mind is open, I would just prefer it if developers tried coming up with new IPs instead of trying to remaking or resurrecting IPs that have been dead for a decade.

I have to agree with Tank, the next one is bound to be better simply because Gearbox won't be tied down by 14 years of pressure or a half-built game to work with.

My guess/hope after the shitty reviews Forever got that they'll do some sort of reboot to make things more contemporary ala the upcoming Tomb Raider.

Ha a ha a nee ne.... I happened to really enjoy Expendables, you rude person you.

But back on topic, yeah I do think Gearbox will do a better ob with this but at the same time agreeing to the others, what story can they give the Duke character? Unless they can think up something good, mindless shooter gogogo(not always bad, but I happen to enjoy a game more with a good story)
