DVD Rom is starting to give me trouble. Anything I can do?

It's a Samsung dvdrom I bought around a year and a half ago and it's starting to have trouble reading disks. It would either not read the dvd, or it would stop reading it half way of installation/the movie etc.

Is there anything I can do to fix it, without having to spend cash right now?

Well, if you could get to the lense without breaking it then try cleaning it.

Haha; yes... got me there

DVD RW drives are pretty cheap too. I paid like R200 for my Samsung drive. Come to think of it, it has lasted for over 2 years, but I hardly use it.

I also recently bought a new samsung, cause my preious one was walked out of my system, not by me though. But it was going strong on 1 year 8mnths longest i ever had a writer for...

But seriously Gimaru dont waste you time tring to fix it, it may or may not work, but it will never work the same... do yourself a favour and get a new drive. Less hassles imo.
