EA allegedly solicits favourable Battlefield 3 review scores

greedy bar-stewards!! the irony is, the game would have more than likely gained top reviews anyways

Uhm, i would like to know how is this questionaire a bribe?
On what ground do they have evidence that only battlefield fans get early copy for review?
How is getting an early copy for review a bribe?
There is a difference between a bribe, and early review.
Bribed reviewers get cash, behind the back.

So my question is uhm.. what bribe? A lot of product that gets released, get reviewed before release date, cars, shoes, food, phones, etc.

How is sending a questionaire+ copy of the game to reviewing publications a bribe?

There are actually publications who bribe with every sense of the word. But sending out a questionaire, and early copy for review..is it fair to call it a bribe?

Also a mere apology and saying "Human error" for sending out classified pages, was intentional, as well as adding "bribe" to a publication is fowl play. Thus That norwegian reviewing publisher's reviews means the same as pissing in a pot.

Just saying. Again, i would like to know how is this a bribe? Would it be bad for mygaming to write a followup artical on what Mygaming's thoughts are on the matter? From your own perspective, or would the "investigation" stop at this assumed accusation?

You're missing the point. There are no bribes. Review copies were to be handed out according to how the questionnaire was answered. Only people who like the game get copies for review, meaning that EA are ensuring that no bad reviews come out before the game's release. Selectively sending out review copies is pretty much just as bad as buying reviews, imo.

Is it fact, or was it an assumption? And where is proof that only those reviewers who are a fan of battlefield franchise get a copy?

Even though BC2 broke the franchise for so many people..

According to Norwegian news site NRK.no, in order to get an early review copy of Battlefield 3, editorial staff had to fill out a questionnaire. Based on the answers submitted by the journalist, EA would decide whether or not to send the publication an early review copy.

Take it up with NRK.no if you want the solid proof.

It's a bit concerning tbh, because what does this mean regarding EA's faith in the game's quality. I imagine that resorting to this means the game might not impress like we are expecting.

To add fuel to the fire, Geoff Keighley posted on twitter a couple of days ago that he played 4 of the biggest fall games games over the weekend and was left disappointed by one.

Those four games can only be Skyrim, MW3, BF3 and Uncharted 3. Based on news around the web it's safe to say that Skyrim and UC3 are going to be really good. That leaves BF3 and MW3. Of those two the one we know least about, especially for SP is BF3.

All this seems to be pointing IMO to BF3's single player campaign (something I'm rather looking forward to).

So in closing. Could we be in for a disappointing SP campaign? I've seen this happen time and again...

I played the beta and had a lot of fun. If they have fixed most of the bugs it will be a really good game.

I don't really think there's anything wrong. It's not about "faith in a game." The fact is that it's a new product, and EA are going to try to find people who might be more inclined to send copies to people who will like it. If someone answers negatively on the questionnaire, does EA really have the incentive to send them a copy of the game? If you created products which, in the past, were constantly hated by someone, would you still want to send them your new product?

I understand that point of view, but the thing is, I don't particularly like how quick EA were to apologize for it and call it an error. It's understandable that you might want to send your game to reviewers who might be more inclined to give it an unbiased (although in this case I'm not even going to think twice that EA will jump to send it to BF fans) review. The whole fact that EA made such a big deal out of it themselves is what's fishy, in this case.

Sigh...Developers these days, I honestly have confidence that BF3 is going to be amazing and EA/DICE have their fanbase secure so there's no need to worry about stuff like this, IMO they really shouldn't do stuff like this just to try and beat their competition - Activision, they should rather just make the game and then leave the rest up to the gamers/reviewers to give an HONEST opinion...no need to do stuff like this :(

Yeah, I do agree with you there... Why are EA apologizing instead of defending their actions? That does spark a bit of fishiness in my mind as well.

So which part was " human error " exactly? The fact that the questionare was sent out or the fact that it was drawn up in the first place? Either way, it's a poor response after being caught out. Kind of reminds me of the whole Verge debacle.

I agree, why not check out the people you send the game for review? It would be ridiculously stupid to just send the game out to any random. That is bad business practice. Good on EA for this.
