I just don't know, maybe I should give up gaming and start playing golf. At least you know what you are going to get with golf.
Firstly, you have to buy a game to test it. In the past demos and betas was available for free, I don't even mind a time trail, I just want to see how a game will play before I buy it. But no, only after you already bought the game are you allowed to see it, resulting in my Bad Company 2 currently serves as a paperweight.
Now they release exclusive content, but once again before I can see whether I actually am going to like the game, I have to buy it. From certain places, but OK, that's not the big problem, my main issue is that I only have a limited time to get it. If I decide to get the game some time after the release, then I can't get any exclusive contents. Or will it be available as DLC some time after the initial release?
I suppose its fine if the gaming companies release extra contents for those willing to pay for it, but give me at least a chance to see whether I will like the game or not. Whether it will be actually work on my PC and internet connection (most probably why Bad Company 2 was a waste of my money). Don't force people to pay for something they don't know they will like.
And unfortunately, unlike Call of Duty, Battlefield is still uncertain, the change in game play from Battlefield 2 to Bad Company 2 was considerably different, and everything I saw until now tells me that Battlefield 3 will also be different. At least with Call of Duty you know what type of game play you will get, the wild-card is in how they will mess it up before you get there.
