EA doesn't think we need a PS4 just yet

But don't you know you can't upgrade your console like a pc :p

So you just have to wait for that next console with 1gig ram...

30fps, heavy up-scaling and reduced map size...and the EA boss think that is just fine & no need to improve.

No wonder EA has been pissing me off lately with people like that in charge.

I'm still sticking to my previous statement... there's no "driver" for me to then buy a new console....

I bought the PSOne for the CD player, it was my first CD player and I used it for listening to music.
PS2 had a DVD player, so I bought one for gaming and watching movies when DVD was new.
Then I got a PS3 for the BluRay and the DLNA, and I use these features extensively.

I must say, that there is no need for me to buy a PS4 if it's only going to have a BluRay player as well... at launch, my PS3 will be able to do anything the PS4 can, and over time I will not be able to play some new PS4 games, and I do about 1 hour of gaming per week so no loss there...

Now I know there are many other people who have the PS3 for the same reason as me, so Sony, you;re setting yourselves up for failure.... Unless you aim your console at hippies with your low power green solar shit...

I'd prefer it if they concentrated on making decent games instead of spending a big chunk of the time and money on fluff. And you can't really compare to PCs because to get those high resolutions and frame rates you generally have to spend a lot more money. The attraction of the consoles is that they are relatively low cost and a fixed target. At the same time the game developers should not be trying to push the hardware to its limits as that invariably results in games that cannot maintain consistent frame rates.

I don't think we need a new PlayStation yet.

The current PlayStation is a pretty cool device and can kick out some serious gaming entertainment. I would prefer that they start building the new one, but take their time and do it right, . I think the PS3 can still go for about 2 more years.

Also, I just bought mine...so I am a bit biased here, lol

I agree with TheAvenged87. They should take their time and make it a worthy successor of the PS3. Plus I've only had mine for just over a year. I also need to save up some cash for the PS Vita :)

Maybe EA is right. Maybe the PS4 is not yet NEEDED.

Problem is that even if it's needed, Sony will probably just fark it all up in no time at all.

Probably true, they would but if they learnt anything over the years a rushed development cycle leads to massive problems to be resolved later. Should they choose to start development and look into what they need to achive to keep exsisting user and attract future users, i think they would come up with a decent machine.

Sony. Learn. Used in same sentence?
Naw, you must've meant to say something completely different.

Sony and alike companies NEVER learn. Ever. Anything. They just rely on the consumer's stupidity to keep forking over the greens without ever thinking about it.
So far so good, so there's no reason to change the recipe.

I actually hope Sony does not release a new console now, I won't buy it anyway, but then the XBOX fanbois will really have something to troll about :D

But then again, with these massive PS3 price drops we saw the last year or two, they may be trying to make some decent profit before the launch of teh PS4, seeing that they always make a loss on the console in the first year or two...

Yeah they are trying to squeeze out some money. Also, Christmas is on the way and the price cuts allow them to sell more consoles and therefor, more games over that period.

Okay fair enough i used them in the same sentence, but from past expierence they should have learnt... The playstation and PSone (sucess), PS2 (success), PSX (failure), PS3 (success), PSP (success somewhat), PSPGo (Failure), PS Vita (undetermined).

The PSX was released not to long after the PS2 it didnt fair that well, i believe it was a PS2 with media capabilities (correct me if i am wrong), and thus didnt fair well cause at the time other media besides DVD wasnt too important cause there was nothing new beside that. PSPGo suffered the same fate, as it was the 4th technical refresh of the PSP, its downfall was it alienated the PSP by loosing the dics feature, which wouldnt make it a good upgrade path cause your entire PSP collection would be a waste and the fact that you need the internet to get your games.

If the PS4 doesnt contain some sort of tech thats new or a complete overhaul of the system they better off giving us and technically upgrade option, trading in your old console for a more powerful newer version with a slight upgrade fee. they would give them and edge till they have something decent to offer.

Well ps4 is not needed now since it hasn't got anything gamebreaking and PS3 is working well still so why do we need another playstation unless it gives games a 3d perspective like the nintendo 3DS.

I think the PS3 has reached its peak so its only natural that its successor will be in the works. Sony will ideally love to delay the PS4 and optimise the PS3 revenue but I think it all depends on what the boys at MS have in store, if a new xbox is announced, expect the PS4 asap!
