EA is working on Battlefield 3 launch problems

So they used unfinished code as RTM, prepped the patches via public testing, but didn't catch it all. This is no mo, but I can't help to compare it and think if TRION can have a much smoother launch why can't BF3...

Yip phoned BT now and told them to keep my copy till tomorrow afternoon..Will see if I still end up taking it.
What was the point of beta testing the 64 player maps and then not implementing the changes for the launch...

Ps: if anyone is keen, you can buy my Pre order copy when I pick it up tomorrow :D lol

Why on earth would you wait a day? You can still get through all the crappy installation woes, play around with the single player and kick start your battlelog.

bizarro logic there dude.

He's waiting a day to decide if he still wants it. Maybe learn to read properly?

Come on, its BF3 not some b-grade game that has no hope of getting better. And also, what exactly is going to change between today and tomorrow, seeing as there is no official release date yet for the patch to fix these issues. So I guarantee you, he will still pick it up, take it home, un-box it and give it a spin. Which begs the point, why bother waiting a day?

So maybe try and learn to be less of a wise ass?

The more complex the game, the greater the amount of issues, the harder it is to overcome them all.

BF3 is a pretty complex game.

Wow that's a real kak excuse. Suppose they never head about "modular testing", maybe next time round test game code in small blocks first?

I'm sorry, but people like you are to blame for that game state, if other development houses can have less to nothing issues at launch, capitalist EA can too, but they are into release now and patch tomorrow, because their clients like you eats up their bantha fodder happily.

A mmo has a lot more complex netcode than just allowing measily 64 players in a closed area at a time, where as you can have thousands of players in multiple areas doing multiple things at same time that needs to be reconciled realtime. You want to tell me bf3 has more complex netcode? lol? seriously? I've seem mmo's with smoother launches that's definitely a lot more complex than just some phew phew game.

You know what's not going to change? Douche bags. They never change.

I'll pray that they find a medicinal cure to change you then.

This. Battlefield 3 is an FPS. Not only in terms of netcode, but in terms of the game itself. Since when did FPS games become complex? You still point and shoot. Not even the inclusion of tanks and jets can really change that. Want to see complex? Play Baldur's Gate 2. Or even just Dragon Age Origins. That's what a complex game looks like.

Want to see a fail argument? QFT.

FPS games not complex. Hah, I'm sure the developers of Skyrim, Deus Ex, Bioshock, Rage, BF3 and most likely, MW3 would find your argument quite amusing.

Crawl back into your hole, troll.

Is that like spot which one is not suppose to be in the group question? didn't know Skyrim was a FPS

I'm not debating the fact that for example hit collision detection is far more complex in something like bf3 over rift; that's excluding the how the lighting has to be rendered when it also collides with object x and so on, but surely to have auth and key problems is just a disgrace to name two examples.

By no means can the netcode of a fps be more involving than that of a mmo.

I'd take a good bet that bf3 is far less complex than something like Skyrim, which you should have known if you have ever bothered to program in the gaming scene. Running and gunning in a single isolated map VS multiple maps with multiple things to do and interact with that has to be reconciled at realtime over just phew phew is far more code intensive. Let's see how many bugs skyrim yield at launch VS BF3, ok.

In the end they pushed unfinished code and netcode to the market, because they knew they would be content with that and haven't made a clear effort for optimized and humanly possible bug free release.

Finally you did take note how kak Rage is? That's total humiliation towards the father of shooters and coming back to dead space 2, wow so little if any at all bugs at launch...

After all that you try to back up your argument with the shittest release since FFXIV... Rage.
Really chum, get with it.

Rage is a piece of undercooked and media-hyped bullshit.
Way too short. Way too shitty. Way too simple. Way too many problems.

Don't forget about hellgate london, mortal online and age of conan.

I'm about to play, spot the idiot.

Actually, I'm not debating this at all with you (edit: you being Pr⊕phet), its retarded and pointless. Unless you can whip out an accurate, industry recognised graph/info-graphic that unequivocally states that A is more complex than B, I am unable to buy into your feeble opinion.

And yes, Skyrim is an FPS, just like Oblivion was before it. If you don't know this, you haven't played the elderscroll games.

Here is the bottom line. EA needed to release BF3 before the 10-pound gorilla that is MW3. Its a marketing decision, so the game has a dodgy start. But who gives a sh#t. The game is still loads of fun and I am going to get plenty of mileage out of it.

Gamers love to bitch and moan, but at the end of the day they will still play the game. Moaning about it on the forums is like pissing into the wind, its stupid and all get is piss on your shoes.
