EA promises Crysis 2 will be a "Halo Killer"

/^5's Azimuth

I really cant see this happening either.

I hate it when people say "its a Halo-killer" how are you going to kill something with more than a million active fans. For the Reach beta there was over a million players active at 1 time.

The same comment was made about <insert all MMO's made in the past few years> being the "WoW-Killer"

ok so they are getting verbally abused by you guys why exactly? because they are talking up their game?

Putting the term "Halo-killer" along side Haze is the main reason it flopped, same with Killzone and Killzone 2 (though they didn't flop). As soon as u put that there people judge the game on Halo's standards and if it fails to deliver the title becomes just another lack luster attempt.

After playing some of the new Halo Reach Multiplayer i can tell you EA/Crytek will have to up their game 10 fold to just be in the same playing field as Halo MP. Why not simply state that they want to create a compelling Multilayer component.

Will see what happened but when i see Halo-Killer i see short commings, a true halo killer will be what ever title Bungie brings to the table after Reach.

What bothers me about it is that it seems they're simply cloning Halo, and banking on the millions of Halo fans to chuck Halo and move over instead. Which is just absurd. If you're going to develop a multiplayer experience that you want people to take seriously, do something new and innovative instead. Leave Halo to Halo. It's what it does best.

Besides, the "Halo-Killer" epithet is so 2003.

Why does everyone still want to kill Halo? I thought Call of Duty was the new "Halo".

LOL PMSL! They want to kill Halo coz Halo MP is still the pinnacle of online Multiplayer Shooter Awesomeness. As far as Arcade shooters go.

They are targeting the CoD crowd with Bad Company 2, and later this year the Medal of Honour reboot.

I guess they are targeting the Halo crowd with Crysis 2 as it will have sci-fi elements.

Man, I wish theses publishers would just shut up and get on with. No one likes a braggy git, especially when they are bragging about something that doesn't even exist yet.

I do get a annoyed when publishers "talk their games up."

Explaining the game, and discussing it on its own terms is one thing. Claiming its better than game X, without providing ANY tangible information is just annoying.

Haha, Call of Duty is much more SRS BZNZ than Halo. They're not really comparable at all. :P

Yeah, MW2 sold more copies than the bible when it came out. :D

I still need to play Halo online, but I'm more of a mouse and keyboard man.

Crytek have really been doing a lot of trash talking for Crysis 2. They used to be such a humble company and I don't know where this new elitist attitude came from. I'm of a strong belief that your game should do all the talking not some guy on an ego trip. They are not bolstering my confidence in this title with all these silly comments they've been making recently.

You think so? I don't know, my impression of them was always somewhat unfavourable. They kinda seem to think they're the zomgchampions of PC gaming, because... their games look nice. I mean, so what.

Ill wait till Crysis 2 hits shelves before deciding but im not holding my breath in anticipation... thats reserved for Reach.

If they said their game was awesome no one would really give a damn and no hype, interest would be generated.

But saying it's a Halo-killer, all the sudden it spreads like wildfire through the internet with every Halo fanboi giving their opinion about the statement.

DICE did the same with Bad Company 2, but at least they backed it up with substance.

Does this mean Crysis 2 will also need several patches before its playable in Multiplayer form?

Lets see their first game is badly coded, so much so that it requires a beast to run it, almost 3 years later. Not because it is overly impressive in graphics. Will see how Crysis is.
