Then why is there not a similar clause in other company's EULAs? Most of them check information that is required for a game to be run. I call bs.

We do not have access to information such as pictures, documents or personal data, which have nothing to do with the execution of the Origin program on the system of the player, neither will they be collected by us.

EA takes the privacy of its users very seriously. We have taken every precaution to protect the personal and anonymous user data collected.

Bit of a contradiction? We do not collect personal data but we take every precaution to protect personal user data collected.

Sense, EA makes much.

guys do your selves a favor and run process monitor then start steam and origin and watch what files they both access.
Origin looked at anything mostly in program data (none EA stuff as well)
While steam I have never seen look anywhere but steam config file

Scanning for pirated EA games, no doubt. I wonder what EA would have to say to this.

Origin isn't that bad. It's new, people don't like new. New requires change which requires adaptation which is effort. People hate effort.

In the beginning, people hated steam. Steam got better and people adapted, now steam is acceptable. What makes this any different?

Just a thought...

I think the big problem with orgin and to extend steam is it will become like console exclisive crap in the end. Aka COD will be on steam and BF on Orgin and both companys(read more ea) will handel there game and your pc like they own it and can do with it what ever they want.(read sony trying to sue people removing there software from your hardware). Steam is only good as it give one a good reason to have it. as in all the steam specials but i havent sean or heard any advantage that origin gives so until they give me good reason to own anything on orgin ill just skip what ever is on it.

Apparently there is a crack out that by-pass Origin for muliplayer?! thus no Origin installed, but still legal to play?
not sure if it works?!

I hope they find a way to get this done, im not a fan of steam/origin and when i get the game i dont want to have to battle with this, Have been reading several posts over the last few days and there has been a lot of complaints about origin and people battling to get the game working with origin.

In the Same way that Steve Jobs used the Iphone to look into everyones houses, Bill Gates used Windows hacks to access your web cam.
If they that paranoid about everything they should move to a hippie town and live completely off the grid. What are they trying to hide anyway.

What are they trying to hide anyway.

Always the "Do you have anything to hide?" argument.
It doesn't really matter if people have anything to hide, it's still wrong to spy on them without their consent. Make it an optional feature that you can turn on if you want and provide clear explanation on what's being looked at instead, if EA really wants to have a peak.

The problem with all these clients is that people don't want to have 5 different clients from 5 different publishers running to play their games. Just getting people to accept Steam took a long time, but now most have begun seeing the benefits. Right now I have Steam, Origin, Desura and Impulse installed and it's just a pain having to start up specific clients to play specific games.

I'll admit to not knowing much about Origin, I didn't like Steam for a long time either and I'm not going to like other clients just like that either. Spyware accusations against Origin doesn't help it either, of course.

There are plenty of legitimate things on my pc that I don't want to share with a company that has a history of not respecting personal info. It's not a question of having nothing to hide, its a question of being entitled to privacy, and them not being entitled to all my data in exchange for paying them to play a game.
