EA sheds 400,000 Star Wars: The Old Republic players

Star Wars: The Old Republic is not the World of Warcraft killer many people thought it would be.

Correct, the WOW killer will be launching in a little over 6 days from now...

DIII cometh....

Wow clones just don't cut it anymore, they need to innovate or face this type of situation when the player inevitably gets bored to death of the game. I suspect the same fate for Elder Scrolls online from what I've read.

I think ToR did innovate, at least a bit. The inclusion a more plot centric campaign, full voice acting etc. all good. Gameplay was a bit boring though and the old fallback of quick pick attacks felts boring.

I think this says it best.

LOL! Now that would be the best MMO ever! :D

But honestly, GW2 is meeting all of my expectations for an MMO in this day and age. I'm not too picky for story since I don't play MMO's for story (that's why there are SP games), I play them for world immersion and having fun doing content with other people.

The static gameplay of WoW and SWTOR is an dynamic that has been coming on since Everquest and it's time to move on from that, it's no wonder players are leaving in droves.
