EA Sports Rugby 10

If anyone has any info on EA Sports Rugby 10, please post it here. Are they even making a new rugby game? I know they skip a year so there is a good chance that rugby 10 will be released.
 
I heard that EA has lost their licencing to make new rugby games. Not sure whether this is for real or not.

hehe its such a pity, i dont understand why they dont take the Madden engine and convert it to rugby, would make so much more sense.

Thank god HB studios aren't making the games, they made the Shocking Rugby 05, and Cricket 05.

I read that they took the Fifa 98 engine. Thats just appaling! No wonder those games sucked.
 
Interesting. Iv always thought that Rugby translates really well in gaming, unlike cricket which can get a bit boring.

Oh dont get me wrong, i LOVE cricket, it is my favorite sport.

I just don't think ti works well in game format. I just don't think you can capture the enjoyment of carving out a well crafted innings, or manipulating swing in bowling in a game.

It tends to become repetitive and a bit monotonous.

My favorite cricket series ever was International Cricket Captain, which allows you to select your team, batting order, bowling line up, line and length, batting aggression, field placements etc. Also it allows you to skip through the overs fairly quickly. The best aprt is buying players at the end of the season, you can really put awesome county teams together with the likes of Mathew Hayden opeing alongside Jaque Kallis!

It is serious cricket dork territory though.
 
Cricket isn't too bad, but i agree it does get monotonous.

The need to create a new control scheme instead of the usual direction+soft/hard hit.

Something innovative could be pretty awesome.

If only 20Twenty was exciting in a video game as it is on tv :D
 
Think the reason why cricket games failed is thayt no matter what you did you ended up pulling off one of the few preset shot into the game...

To make cricket game fun, they could enter a free moving batsman into the equation use the analogue stick to hit any direction, the amount of to the shot would depend on the stance taken, and depending on the power selectedd when the shot was played not predetermined as it is currently... Bowling also needs attension currently is darn near impossible to do anything creative.
 
As for rugby the game was far more interesting than the cricket counter part...Its ashame that EA lost the rugby license
 
International Cricket Captain is an awesome game.
But back to rugby... last one i played was the world cup 1995 :p

That one was actually awesome! I really loved it, I still have the original CD :O!!!

I just cant get it to run :mad:

Oh and i have Jonah Lomu Rugby too but I also cant get it to run :(
 
Its sad to hear that they lost the license, its strange seeing as both rugby 06 and rugby 08 are on the R100 "best seller" range at musica and look and listen. It might have only been SA, UK and AUS that bought the game, even then it should be a sustainable market. But saying that the lack of innovation in the game might have been its downfall, there wasn't a great deal of improvement from 06 to 08, it took them two years to change the camera angle and update the players.

Yeah, And then they didn't even update them properly.... it was so frustrating not being able to edit your players properly as well...:mad:
I read an article somewhere that they have worked real hard on getting the camera angles perfect, but it looked pretty much the same to me :mad:
Two years... for all that?!?!?
