EA wins "Worst Company in America" Golden Poo award, again

Okay, suppose the BoA got voted worst company of America. What then? Do you think that would change those peoples' lives? Do you think the BoA would even give a shit? No, they wouldn't. Nobody is saying the BoA isn't guilty, but they're not going to change. They don't have to because their consumer base is too large. EA, on the other hand, doesn't have a fraction of the consumers the bank of America has. Something like this hits them a lot harder. They might just change.

So in the end, nobody says people who got screwed over by the BoA do not deserve pity, but the outcome of a small online poll is not going to change their lives or the BoA. It's just a poll, at the end of the day, not some kind of fine or punishment.

At least it would be 2 weeks of poo thrown at company deserving of the title. Something that might place more pressure on corporate governance and business ethics as opposed to keeping billy happy on his PC

You do know that the BoA has won it in the past, right? Didn't change anything back then. Wouldn't change anything now. People are flinging shit at BoA regardless of whether they got the most votes in an online poll.

Am i the only one that doesn't have any problems with EA?

Though i don't buy many games, those that i do buy and are published by EA work just fine.

Like others have pointed out in this thread, there are far worse companies out there but then again this is just an internet poll....

Either way it doesn't mean sh1t for your average gamer or EA.

Yeah I don't get why EA didn't just keep quite about it and not go out of its way to insult their audience while at the same time passing the buck!?
How about doing something about it EA instead?

I've noticed that hating on EA is just another bit of popular internet culture/meme thing. Like everyone hates Bieber and everyone loves cats and everyone loves bacon. Its just an internet thing.

If you like to look at it that way, maybe. Except people have very real reasons for disliking EA. Namely their shady business practices, the destruction of popular franchises, buying out developers just to shut them down, etc.

There is a very real hate for EA just like there is a very real hate for any other company who uses unscrupulous business practices instead of doing what is good for the gaming community as a whole.

oh hectic! Which franchise and developers did they wreck?

Let's see, for developers here's a pic of their victims (dead or dying):

One that that image missed is PopCap. They bought out PopCap and ruined that developer too.

As for franchises EA has either ruined or dsestroyed:

  • Simcity
  • Dune
  • Command and Conquer
  • Dungeon Keeper
  • Syndicate
  • Ultima
  • Burnout
  • Wing Commander
  • Theme Hospital
  • Need for Speed
  • Mass Effect
  • Medal of Honor

And the list goes on. I was going to add BF3, but seeing as we've got a few stalwart BF3 fanboys who refuse to hear anything bad said about the game, I'll abstain.

Anyway, the basic gist of it is that recently everything EA touches turns to shit.

and South Africans really have room to talk on their own country....

I'm not really sure what you're implying? That we're not allowed to comment on international companies because our country has a lot of ridiculously crappy companies?

Because if so, that's just the silliest thing I've heard all day.

ok, maybe Im completely clueless noob but I was under the impression that Bioware, Criterion and Dice are still in business and that EA just publishes their games.

They are, the picture is just pointing out that those companies stopped producing quality games since EA took over.
