Elder Scrolls V - Skyrim

I really hope they are using a new engine this time. If I see one more robotic animation or npc face I'm going to hurl...

Yeah, I agree. While Gamebryo is(was?) a decent engine, it is time for it to be buried never to be used in a game again. :p

They plunge so deep into the uncanny valley its not even funny,
If you can`t make your characters 100% realistic, rather go with more stylised and unrealistic characters like borderlands.
damn, a game with borderland`s style, and bethesda`s scale would rule.

Oblivion lacked variety. It was dead boring after a few hours of play.

For some maybe. Oblivion is the single game that I have spent the most time on out of all games I have ever played. Couldn't stop playing it. I still put the game in my console every now and then and just mess about for a while.

Should keep me busy till Diablo arrives

Tempting fate? Diablo 3 is supposedly supposed to be coming out around the end of 2011. Fingers crossed.

Bethesda Softworks’ community manager Nick Breckon confirmed on Saturday that there will be an "all new" engine and that it "looks fantastic".

Remember when Oblivion came out and everyone was upgrading their PC's to play it and get the highest fps possible? I wonder if it's going to be the same with Skyrim. Then there are those of us that rush through these games impatiently just to plan our mods. I can't wait!

I doubt it considering the confines of the console specs. Glad it's a new engine though. :D

I think Oblivion appeals to a very specific type of Gamer. The one that is really anal about their RPG's. I'm one of those. Vanilla oblivion was decent but it was only when you used the Overhaul mod that it became amazingly challenging and immersive. I would definitely not say that it's the casual gamer's kind of game.

Oblivion is awesome with some mods. But it still feels like the game grabs you by the hand and guides you through it, and it gets very tedious after a while. Morrowind was epic, So many hidden locations, quests and the lot, in fact I am planning to install and play it again soon.

Morrowind had the more immersive atmosphere, mainly thanks to the ambient sound effects. I'd also like to replay it, but I'm afraid the character models might prevent me from playing, since I'll probably be laughing uncontrollably at them.

For Skyrim, Bethesda will be putting some old stuff into a new engine, instead of putting new stuff into an old engine, as with Oblivion.

Here's a Skryim screenshot:

Fake, yes, but Skyrim might look even better than this.

That is a load. It was weak compared to real rpg's. I finished games like Temple of elemental evil and pool of radiance ruins of mythdranor.

I am a hardcore rpg player BTW. I just found Oblivian lacked variety. There were not vary many weapons and the enchanted weapons sucked.
