Discounting the "Because my religion says so" argument since that's not one's own opinion, just what you have been told to believe. If anyone has an actual reason why they personally feel that being gay is somehow morally wrong, I'd love to hear it.

You're going to wait a looong time to hear a reasonable response buddy.

But erstwhile; enjoy some trolls

That's what gets to me. People can have beliefs and conviction but it's so often without any reason or a personal opinion.

I've got an interesting one for those who say that being gay is against their religion.

In Leviticus 18:22 the Bible says:
"You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination."

However in Leviticus 19:19 the Bible says:
“‘Keep my decrees.
“‘Do not mate different kinds of animals.
“‘Do not plant your field with two kinds of seed.
“‘Do not wear clothing woven of two kinds of material."

Leviticus 19:27:
"‘Do not cut the hair at the sides of your head or clip off the edges of your beard."

etc. I don't have the time to look for the interesting bits right now. Googling will probably find it.

I don't understand how some of the bits in the Bible must be followed but others not. That is hypocritical.

I believe that gay people were born that way and to discriminate against them is wrong. Even worse those who do so based on Bible verses where they will quote one verse but blatantly ignore the others.

If a person wants to be against people that are gay then they may be so but I too believe that this is intolerant behaviour.

I have to point out that Leviticus is Old Testament.

The thing that we can never disregard is that belief and conviction is often woven into the very fabric of who we are as people. Your belief is more than just a simple system; it is the window out of which you choose to view the world.

Belief is one thing, but how you act based on your belief is the issue, people feel justified to do what they feel is "right", when as people have said, everyone has a different sense of what is "right" to them.

I may be wrong on this one but I believe that the only passages in the New Testament that deal with being gay is in Romans and were said by Paul. And that it was Paul's own belief. Also that Paul believed funnily enough that when we judge others we condemn ourselves.

Romans 1 and 2.

As far as I know Jesus never condemned homosexuality.

Ok, checked out the video and the thread. Awesome speech!

This whole thing has made me remember a conversation I was having with a (gay) friend at a braai a while back. We were having one of those deep drunken conversations, and I mentioned in passing how much I admired him and people like him for having the courage to be openly gay in this society, and the look on his face made me suddenly realize how much a little thing like that can mean to someone.

Acceptance is one of the greatest things you can give a person. We're all just trying to fit in in this crazy, confusing world.

You're not a Christian and you certainly don't know what you're saying. Homosexuality is an abomination in the eyes of The Lord. It states it repeatedly....but you wouldn't know.

Stop talking kak about a religion that you DO NOT understand. What are you going to say next? That Mohammed has a line of Pork products?? You dumbass!

Dude, take your Jesus-bombs and get the fuck out. You're spewing absolute bullshit about religion and making it incredibly hard for me to tolerate you. Gay people are much nicer people to be around than you are.

No, what I see is that I quote out of the Bible and you attack me.

I give rational and logical information that I took time to gather. I quoted actual scripts out of the Bible and you reply by saying that it is stated repeatedly without any scripture to back it up.

Don't attack me. I happen to know the Bible quite well.

Rather attack my argument with a counter argument.

Do you understand your religion? Does God not state though shalt not judge?

Okay here are the facts:

1. Do I accept homosexuality? No.
2. Is it wrong according to the Bible? Yes. (anyone who says differently needs seriously pull their head out of their...)
3. Am I offended by you bunch of clowns mocking my religion and making up false claims about it? Yes....but I've come to expect no less from this forum.

The level of disrespect this forum shows to people and their religion is by far, bar none, the WORST that I've ever seen. Ultimately you'll end up paying a price for that level of disrespect...but then again, you won't care until it's way too late.
