Epic Boss Battles

Been thinking lately about my past Epic Boss Battles. Bosses that have made you cringe or sigh with relief after defeating them. Bosses that have left your controller sweaty and your pulse racing. Those have had you screaming at the screen and throwing your controller down in frustration or swatting the keys from your keyboard.

But who's to say that Epic Bosses can't be something simply mesmerizing or spectacular. I wanna know your best/worst experiences on any platform/game bosses epicness.

Personally one of my biggest moment is boss history is from Destiny, Prison of Elders. The boss in question, Skolos of course. Two randoms and I orgnised it over the Destiny SA Facebook group.
We decided to get together in game around 12pm on a Sunday afternoon. We were going to take on the legendary prison king, Skolos. The rules were simple, complete the challenge as a team, no cheeses or glitches. We knew nothing of the strategies and went in completely blind. Rage was experienced, tempers were high. We cursed and swore (and at each other)... but in the end we did it. We defeated Skolos around 19h00 and about ~1600 kills each of waves of enemies.

Elation was expressed, shouting and screaming in joy. We were so stoked and so elated with each other. For three random people to communicate and work together to come together for a common goal. The experience was EPIC!

It has to be our first Nefarian (40) kill. Nothing spectacular about the boss but it was just something else after weeks of trying to get 40 people to work together and do the perfect song and dance. It was one of the few times I heard a large group people just losing it over vent. Don't think anything came close to that since.

Nefarian is Black dragon and the final boss of the Black Wing Lair raid in WoW.

Wow, just realized this was about 10 years ago. Time flies.

Id have to say it was my first wow boss raid, being onyxia 25. never having decent internet to play online, and then going to england and discovering wow. and going from a social guild to a raiding guild and then OMG RAIDZ

(Almost) Every boss in Bloodborne. :p

If I had to pick one it would be Ludwig though. No other boss in the game killed us so many times and when we finally beat him after what felt like a thousand tries I was so damn happy. Might even have shed some tears of joy.

almost any Final Fatnasy end boss some of those took hours to beat !

Not epic boss fight but just so satisfying to have them die.

Officer Pulaski from GTA San Andreas, I hated that guy....it was good to shoot his face off

almost any Final Fatnasy end boss some of thsoe took horus to beat !

Was also just thinking about the Final Fantasy bosses... But not the end bosses... There are so many bosses throughout those games that are not even part of the story... Getting Bahamut in Final Fantasy VIII was EPIC, but getting Eden...

You had to go to a place thats not on a map called the deep sea research center, fight and defeat Bahamut, then he joins you as a guardian force, then you carry on further and end up meeting one of the toughest battles iv ever encountered in Ultima Weapon... You draw Eden from Ultima Weapon, and then you cant escape the battle... you cant run, you have to fight and beat him... And he has SO much HP...

For me I think it was The Lich King (ICC10). We had small raiding/social guild, and it took us forever to get 10 people that were ICC ready and available for raiding nights. In the end we had the whole of ICC10 down up until Sindy, but The Lich King kept on kicking our asses.
It was such a great feeling to kill him for the first time.

Quake 1 that weird squiddy thing was likely my first "last boss".
All I remember about MDK was some song when you win (and how fun the suit was to play in).
I think Serious Sam was the first truly big scary boss of that time, also still remember that floating sac thing from Half Life.

The ones i distinctly remember to this day was the bosses in WoWs Serpentshrine Cavern , namely Lady Vashj . I wouldn't exactly call it epic, it was just brutal (all before all the nerfs of course). Funny enough, after this particular raid, we got our groove and the other raids were nowhere near as difficult.

As for epic boss fight, not necessarily hard but rather somewhat startled and disturbed most of the fight : Dante’s Inferno - Queen Cleopatra aka "Lust" . If you look for it on youtube beware NVSL ;-) .

God of War and Metal Gear solid had a ton of standout bosses. Biggest elation from beating a boss? Pugging Titan Hard mode in Final Fantasy XIV with a buddy, beating it after what seemed like 100+ tries.

Wow, it seems FF is a common occurrence here.

You never played a Final Fantasy Beo? The games themselves are long and challenging, but most of the INSANE bosses are optional encounters... Not sure about what Isengard is refering to though, iv never played FF XIV...

I have never played any FF game/episode and never seen a single one. I know there is a flying boat, a guy with sharp pointy hair and a broad one sided sword/blade.

... oh, and a character that looks like Q*bert (or a pokemon)

Lol... So basically all you have seen is this image... FF VII

Most of the games have "over sized" weapons, especially Swords... And sometimes they have flying boats, sometimes they more like space ships, sometimes they have both... I would highly recommend looking at the old games if you want to experience the series... VII VIII and IX are 3 of my all time favorite games...

Im very skeptical of the remake of FF VII... If they fuck that up the backlash will be severe...
