Eve Online

EVE is currently on special at Steam. For $4.99 and get the first month free. That's for all people who haven't bought the game yet. Bargain!

Well that's for the key. I think Omega is still playing the trial so if he buys this then it costs a lot less for that first month. :)

hmmm, i've been think long time to play this game. but too much on my plate atmo, lotsa friends of mine play it though...

I've got the same problem. I don't really have the time for an MMO and when playing an MMO it feels like I'm missing out on good single player games. I don't have the time for both. :)

But yeah lots of my friends also play EVE. It looks awesome, I got to give it that.

I bought EVE on steam yesterday and just downloaded it via Steam on local only bandwidth. IS runs a local steam content server :P

I seem to remember training a lot of "learning" skillz last time I played. are those now gone? I don't see them anywhere

No, they're not gone...you have to buy them now. They're not that expensive, but it's best to train the main three to at least level 3 in order to minimise training time of other skills...even before you start training your first skills. The learning skills don't take too long to train thankfully.

Yes, but you have to download the client through Steam :( I saw that option when looking to update my client when I started again

It was either update 600mb or redownload the entire client (2.something Gb?) for $10

To reinforce what Lydon said, a quote from the EVE Battle Clinic beginners guide.

"Your first priority in game should be to get all 6 basic Learning skills. Get them all to at least level 3 before you do ANYTHING else. This will also give you time to choose a direction you want to go in the game. ~ Llanthas Freedark"

when I get home tonight I'll get started on the learning skillz then. EVE seems to have changed quite a bit since I last played!

Biggest change is no more BoB :)

Hmmm well that sucks. It's the same client though. It may just be in different folders. For instance when I buy a game on Steam I stop the download and download an illegal version from the news servers. The I delete the crack, install to where it would have downloaded and it works. Isn't it the same with the EVE client?

I don't know. :) Oh well it's a cheap offer for people who are starting new.

Probably could work... the EVE Client is free though, CCP even have torrents of the client :p

And how did you find out about this? :)

On a forum which I may not speak of. Decided EVE was a good thing to test it on. Bought EVE, started the download and the paused it. switched from my international to local only account and the download ran at a steady 330kbps the whole way through.

What kills me is two weeks back I downloaded TF2 and CS:Source via international bandwidth  wish I had've known that then

That's a proxy what you talking about :p

*same thing happens with the PSN
*u need international to connect to server, add download
*change 2 local account
*and d/l

There's 6 now? Eish...thought it was still 3. Or was it 6 from the beginning?

Who knows. But thanks, at least we know how many there is now :D Guess the guide I was reading was outdated lmfao.

Google Eve Battle Clinic, click on the guides tab and d/l the beginners guide (77pages in pdf format).

Pretty nifty.

On another note, woop, Explosive Shield Compensation IV completed. It only took 9days +change.
