Exclus1ves comp lulz

One way to narrow down the possible fake accounts is to check if any accounts were created on the day of the comp being announced, you might start seeing a pattern develop, maybe.

Or why don't we just amend the rules to say we'll check for double posts/accounts along with post count?

I picked up a couple of double posters when I was working my way through the thread - one was pretty legit, a poster changing his entry. The other may have been one of those accidental double-posts that happen when you think it doesn't go through the first time. The third was definitely two seperate entries.

Naah mate that wouldn't be fair as the competition has already been started with the current rules. But there is no reason why we can't do that for the next comp...

i really think the current method should be thought through.

cause it's kinda "crap" to open the forum and see quick 30 post count boost :

maybe every first post of a new person needs to be mod before any more posts can be made ? or Hey we are going to have a new competition on Day X a week or two and you now have chance to be eligible by making "quality" posts. that might cut down on the drive by shootings we have ? or is it as well a thing where everyone just should strive ( i know i'm guilty ) to just make quality posts over just posting ?

would really be great if we just could reject crappy posts and they'd be gone :D

o well, just a thought *shrugs*

But who decides what is crappy?

well... how to put it.. for god sakes ? don't you find it a least bit bothersome to open today's posts and 90% of them is irrelevant ? like the obvious post++ spam in the gog thread ?

Basically what I'm doing for the lists is just checking their post counts since Monday and whether they actually bothered to link. And double entries. I'd love to hammer down and say they don't meet the requirements in terms of post quality - but it's not my place to judge that.

At the very least, Tinny and crew will have a shorter list to work through - they can look at whoever gets chosen there and scrutinise their posts for quality purposes. Whichever way it goes - I figure I'll probably be quite busy at around 11'ish tomorrow morning :D

It's amazing how busy some people got after I put those lists up :D But seriously - 10 posts is 2 posts per day. If they can't be arsed to put in that little effort ... :/

The total war forums you need atleast 50 posts to make new threads and even vote or post on visitors walls.

I understand all the debating about the post counts, and I agree that it is rather strange and perhaps even annoying to see everyone scramble for posts. However, some of us are rather quiet. I'm on this forum probably 5 times a day, if not more, but still hardly ever post. I prefer simply reading and very rarely see the need to post. I either don't have any useful/helpful input, or see the need to 'strike up conversations and debates' on a forum. There are also more than enough "Haha, so true!", "LOL! Fail game!" people on this forum, so my posts are not required there either. So, I prefer to simply read people's opinions and then form my own, without replying.

All of this to say, that when a competition does occur; yes I will still try to take part. Although it's usually challenging for me to get +10 posts a week, and it might end up being the scenarios described above, of repeatedly posting in order to obtain 10 posts as quickly as possible. (Although I try to find topics in which I can actually contribute). Just thought I'd add my 2 cents.

Very lame excuse.

I'm not at school or varsity. No in fact I have to do a full-time job and sometimes like today a double job, but still I post, but still I try to contribute. I will do so with more intent on quality rather just just hitting reply.

Last time I've checked it's not a magazine, but a public forum. Magazines you read, forums you actually take part in. It's not always about just being on the end where you hold out your hands, sometimes you need to give as well.
