Fan 'fixes' Mass Effect 3 with a 400 Page Rewrite

Haha, that reminds me of this James Paczer guy I ran into on a forum once. He also wrote a 265 thousand word fanfiction story in which he brings Shepard back. No idea how because I didn't bother reading it. He kept whining about how he could bring Shepard back and pestered the Bioware developers endlessly to try and get them to read his story so they could bring Shepard back for ME4.

It was hilarious. When I told him that Shepard's story was done and to get over it he nearly went ballistic and told me what an asshole I was, going on about how Shepard was more than just a videogame character and how people like me trying to 'bury' Shepard were evil. Sadly I cannot share the glorious thread with you, because the forum moderators deleted it soon after. It stood as a testimony to just how obsessed some Bioware fanboys can get.

He's got a twitter account, but he doesn't really show his craziness there. https://twitter.com/Jamespaczer

Since I have't played ME3 yet I think I will refrain from checking this thread for future posts due to obvious spoilers.

I really love the ME universe and was not particularly fond of the conclusion of the story...but this is a bit much.
Who knows though maybe it is actually some quality writing and planning so I will still give it a shot.

Hmmm...it is possible that Mr. Paczer has an obsession :p

Never knew anything was wrong with it, i played it just for the story that was surpricingly good, 400 pages is a bit much, i don't think te developer will even read it.

I found Mass Effect 3 to be good but not memorable. I enjoyed it enough so that I'll buy ME4 (whether Shepard is in it or not), but I didn't enjoy it to the point where I want to play through it again.

Yes thats what I call dedication to a Series wow, if only someone would sort out the Latest final fantasy.

You can call it dedication, I call it an indication of deeply rooted psychological problems. Like the fellow Clive Woofer met that insisted Shepard is "more than just a videogame character", these people fail to see the difference between reality and fiction. It's these guys that goes ape with a uzi and then give gamers in general a bad name.

Agreed. I love the universe and would actually prefer that Shepard is not in the sequel - Actually I'd love a prequel to it all.

Sho. Obsessed much? I would however like to see the endings and progression of his version of the story but doing a 400 page read is asking a bit much. But still, wow, good for him.

No, we need a new crowd. That is Shepard's team and would cut from the creative juices.
I agree fresh start is required including new graphics engine I am sick of the unreal 3 engine hair looks like clay. They will probably use Frostbite.

I never realized the awful hair was due to the use of that engine. Look forward to a new generation of awesome game hair as there is no good excuse for bad hair anymore. Often makes a perfectly detailed model look awful.

If they use the new engine, the mass effect series would be spiteful and put helmets on most characters, but I like to game though but if someone wrote 400 pages of what is wrong with my game, I would probably just say that I have read it and be a little pissed but glad and surprised for the person that wrote the "book".

Why exactly would they do that? I'd suspect a new engine introduces new technological advances in rendering and shadowing, allowing them to show off strands at a less cost to resources.
