Fanless VGA coolers?

Hi chaps,

In one of my more irresponsible moves I bought myself a Coolermaster HAF 932.

Great case, amazing cooling, just one thing left that is annoying me is my graphics card which sounds like it is on a test flight from king shaka airport.

I have tweaked the fan speed with riva tuner but in the end it is still a noisy little critter.

I have the xfx 8800GT with the zalman cooler on, cooler is not an issue, noise is.

Is a fanless VGA cooler an option? I was looking at this one:

The obvious question is, will this keep the card cool enough?
 
I would not recommend a passive cooler at all. I don't think they were deassigned for the african heat. I had one and it did a shit job,in the end I had to get a new card as mine overheated. And then I got a fan for it.
They not very good, so imo stay clear of them.

Oki Doki, what i need to find then is a QUIET fan for my card. Else its going to drive me nuts.
 
The 5000 range of ATI cards is very quite. I have a 5970, 5850 and HAF 932 case here and until I overclocked both cards they were at worst barely audible over the case fans. After overclocking and kicking up volts they got quite a bit louder though as the fans were frequently going up over 50% to keep the temps down.

The only other viable option is water cooling, passive cooling just won't cope with the heat a GFX card will push out. The passive cooler you pointed out is pretty beastly, but you'd definitely still have to put a few fans on it.

Cool, yeah I think I am going to get a 5850. Seems like the best option.

Yeah thats an option, I bought the HAF case for the bigger radius fans which is amazing, without my GFX card running the case is almost dead quiet and had 4 massive fans running.

I think I am going to save my cash and rather just buy a 5850 rather than buying a cooler.
