FEAR 2 going for over R480 is BS

I'm sure the game will be great but up until now new PC game titles have always been around the R300 mark. Thats quite a chunk above the average to pay. But as the trend shows we'll probably all end up forking our money out for a good game anyway.
Don't buy it if it the price is too high.
A game must be great, not just good (imo) before they can accept it as an auto-purchase.

It's not great, single player sucks ass. Guns aren't nice at all. You spend the entire game playing with the assault rifle because you never get ammo for the "nail gun thing" which by the way is horrible in this. It just doesn't have the same power as it used to have.

For me it's good to hear the nail gun thing isn't as powerful as it used to be. It ruined multiplayer F.E.A.R. IMO. It's sad to hear that the guns aren't nice, though. That's make or break for an FPS.

How much tax do you have to pay at customs?

Depends. Some times you pay nothing. When they charged you they work out 14% on 110% of the value. There is only vat and a small import tax fee, there's no duties on computer software and hardware.

Most I have ever payed was R350 when I imported an board game from the states, the board game's value was R2200. Never paid anything when imported my inter milan shirts from italy, the italians are very clever with deceiving the customs guys by qouting totally undervalued prices on the slip in the box. My online slip for exchange purposes are much more than the slip in the parcel. I love Interstore and their sneaky ways.:)

I know Yahtzee's points of view are very rarely shared by the mass market but his F.E.A.R. 2 review is up.

Basically it comes down to: F.E.A.R. 2 is F.E.A.R. for consoles but with updated graphics. He reckons that if you've played F.E.A.R. you don't need to bother with F.E.A.R. 2. I ask: Is more F.E.A.R. with better graphics, more guns on your person and scenes where you're piloting a mech a bad thing? To me it isn't... but an updated F.E.A.R. console port is also not worth R470-R500.

I started playing it last night, played 2 chapters and I love it.

It's more of the same, but with FEAR that's never a bad thing, still not worth what I shelled out

Yeah I do agree, but for me FEAR was brilliant and I am going to buy FEAR 2. I still have a few games I want to finish first then i will buy it. Hopefully the price has dropped by then, but if not, I'll still get it.

well I paid R410 for COD5 during the weekend, just to play it online. I checked some game prices and EVERY SINGLE NEW title on the shelf ( PC) Was R399-R420

Luckily I grabbed mine when it was still R300. :p
I paid R287 at Kalahari.net cash, with R50 off from a voucher.

See this is why I hardly ever buy games. I tend to play the ones I already have for years and years rather than fork out the hellish amount of cash.

Something new will come along that I HAVE to have though :D

Yes R 400 + for a PC game, omw :( :(

We are doomed in SA, I see all new games are about at the range of R 399. It is fail, I did not buy a PS3 for the reason that games are too expensive, now our beloved PC also takes the same route!

I think this is a direct consequence of the Rand-Dollar exchange if a PC Game is $40 to $50 it will be (@ R10.88 to $1) R435 to R544 in SA.

If the Rand goes down to R8/$1 we should see new PC games at below R350 again.
