Female gamer stereotyping: Girls just wanna have fun (too)

Interesting. Well, my wife is a gamer. But then again, she's always been a gamer and has played games since sopwith and wing commander. But when comparing myself to my wife I'm definitely into all the genres that she's not :) she plays skyrim, guild wars and ALL of the sims games. She's a genius at sim city ! While I play racing, fighting and shooting games :)

Finweek describes SA gamers as a high earning, fiercely loyal, and highly intelligent target market.

Pull the other one, it has bells on .......... you'd be lucky to have 40% that are highly intelligent.

I'll all for girl-gamers. We need more, to be honest.:)

Such a sausage-fest gaming is these days, uh? :D

i play all genres but i do have to say i like my FPS. i do however also spend quite a bit of time on RPG's.

I think the journalist making all the complaints should have watched the whole show. She would have noticed that the Toxic bunny guy later talks about projects he's involved with and how girls like playing games like Tekken, he also organised a gaming event where about 60% of the 7000 people who competed were female.
My girlfriend BTW does also game. She loves Assassins Creed and even plays some sport games with me. I think there are a lot more lady gamers in SA than people think, maybe even more than in some other countries like the USA.

Pippa did watch it and she's actually been very cool about the whole thing. And the show has invited her and Tarryn van der Byl to chat with them to show the other side of the story.
